Android Pie officially debuts with new features and system navigation!

After many beta versions and testing, Google has officially announced the arrival of their next major version of Android this week. Notably, the US company also confirms the new name for this operating system: Android Pie! Moreover, the new Android version carries with it some fantastic new features that you might want to check out! Firstly, they primarily centred around using machine learning to make your phone “smarter”.

Let’s start with the first one – Adaptive Battery! The program can figure out which apps you use less, then cut off resources to them to make your battery last longer. The second one – Adaptive Brightness – is going to automatically adjust the display brightness to your current location and what you are doing on the device. On the other hand, the new Android version make frequently performed tasks quicker.

With the new Slices program, apps can insert themselves into your searches so you can perform a task quicker. Another example we have is App Actions. The app inserts quick actions within the launcher at certain times of the day based on your activities. Moreover, you may see a button to quickly set the navigation to your workplace in the morning; or start a playlist when you plug in your headphones. Later in the year, your devices also gain the Digital Wellbeing features. The feature includes a new Dashboard that tracks your app usage and set App Timers to prevent overusing apps. Besides, it also has Wind Down that switches on Night Light and Do Not Disturb and turns the display grayscale. As a result, you don’t overuse your phone before going to bed.

Android Pie availability

If you have a Pixel (or an Essential) Phone, you can find the update waiting for you in the Settings app. Moreover, smartphones from OEMs who were part of the beta program with Google are going to get their update before the end of fall this year.
