Blackberry Venice “Slider” to pack QHD display and run Android Lollipop?

Recent rumors are suggesting that Blackberry is going to launch a new device soon, hopefully this November 2015. The new flagship is a “slider” that Blackberry introduced earlier in MWC. For now, it seems that, the device will be named as Blackberry Venice, featuring a curved Quad HD display. If nothing changes, AT&T will be one of the official carriers to distribute the Blackberry Venice.

BlackBerry Venice: what we know up to now

Also according to reports we have been collecting, the BlackBerry Venice will come with 5.4” screen and a resolution of 1440 x 2560. The handset features curved edges that look somewhat similar to that of the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge.

In terms of BlackBerry Venice specs, it has a nice combo of 64 bit, 3GB RAM, Snapdragon 808 SoC built-in and a powerful hexa-core 1.8GHz CPU that promises very smooth and fast performances for the phone. BlackBerry Venice cameras are not super exciting compared to cameraphones these days, but imressive enough with 18MP and 5MP front shooter.

When not slide out, there is only the touch screen display. But the signature keyboard like in other Blackberry smartphones will show up when you slide it out. So it is quite interesting for those who love a smartphone with both touch screen and a physical key board.

BlackBerry Venice to pack Android OS?

Previous BlackBerry smartphones are known for running their own BlackBerry OS and being a very secure company which tend to choose the safe way of business. However, lately, BlackBerry had some interesting new changes, starting with the beautiful Wraparound concept, and now the rumors to compete in Android smartphone market.

People are being curious about it coming to the Android smartphone market. BlackBerry has not confirmed about this piece of information yet.

However, John Chen, the company’s CEO did reveal that “BlackBerry would launch an Android smartphone if it could make it secure enough.” In other words, it is still a mystery whether the Blackberry Venice will be an Android smartphone or not, but we can totally expect the appearance of it soon in the future, especially when smartphones are developing so fast these days.
