Call of Duty 2017 is going back to its roots, says Activision

Recently, Activision has reveal its latest earnings report. In the process, the company has also confirmed that there would indeed be a Call of Duty 2017 game. That is not really a surprise. However, it has been reported that the new game in the franchise will return to its “roots”, whatever that may mean. Soon enough, the reasons for this was also given by Activision itself!

As part of a conference call with investors, COO Thomas Tippl has discussed Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. While he stated that the game has high-quality and is very innovative, it is true that the game underperformed the expectations of Activision. We already knew that sales of this game were significantly lower than last year’s Black Ops 3. It was explained that because Infinite Warfare is a new sub-series, it is hard to compare it to the already established Black Ops.

However, the futuristic scenario of the game is one of the major complaints from players. Fortunately, this fact has been acknowledged by Activision as well, as he shared. For a considerable portion of the audience, this setting does not resonate well with them, Tippl admitted. He also said that, realizing this, it gave the company a perfect opportunity to learn a lot, even though it was not as successful as planned. Also, he also stated that the company and development team did not regret trying the new setting, since it is more of an experiment. However, the next Call of Duty 2017 will see the return to the roots of the series, as assured by the executive.

Call of Duty 2017: The wait continues

So far, what we have heard about the Call of Duty 2017 game is very encouraging. It shows that Activision listens to players. Hopefully the new entry of the series will be great!
