1- Dual sim, microSD

In United State, dual sim card is not common requirement for the phones. However, in many other countries, people tends to have two devices which one for work number and the other one for personal needs. The fact that nobody wants to carry two phones, worry about charging them and keep them up-to-date.

There is a good news in Galaxy A5 and A7 (2017). Those phone come with a separate secondary SIM card slot that one can easily access. You won’t need to choose between the dual sim card or microSD card slot, now you can have both. However, with Galaxy A3 (2017) still come with the hybrid card slot as the 2016 version.

2- Water protected

Wow, water protected usually is only featured in high-end phones, but no more. With the new Galaxy A series 2017, Samsung featured an IP 68 protection rating, it means that you can safely submerge them in water for a short period of time without suffering any water damages. That’s definitely cool as you can take your phones to the swimming pools, the kitchen, etc. and you don’t need to worry if it is accidentally dropped into the water.

3- Side speaker

The new Galaxy A series 2017 have their loudspeaker located neither on the back, bottom nor the top, but on the side. Located just right above the power/lock key, there are the drilled holes for the loudspeakers. There is not official explain from Samsung about the reason why they put it right there. In our opinion, placing on the top of the right side, it seems like there is less chance that the loudspeaker is blocked by your fingers.

4- Floating camera button

Have you ever wanted to take a picture and your finger could not reach the camera button? If the answer is Yes, Samsung brings you the solution! For the first time, the camera app features a new floating camera button that you can move around. That is not a very huge specs, but it is useful. That’s good!

5- Fingerprint scanner

Fingerprint scanner is more and more common last year. But just like water protection, it is usually only featured on high-end devices. And Samsung, one more time, drives the point that its more affordable phones also have it. It is a great and safe securities way to protect your phones from thieves. In the Samsung Galaxy A series 2017, the fingerprint scanner is built in the home key up front.

Featured Fingerprint scanner, it is more security for wireless payment. And the new Galaxy A series 2017 do support the Samsung Pay. Samsung Pay is even more flexible to its rivals such as Apple Pay and Android Pay when it works with not only newest NFC terminals but also with older MST magnetic terminals.

7- USB-C

It seems like USB-C is the trend lately. We glad that Samsung equips USB-C port to Galaxy A series 2017. This is the new standard: the connector is conveniently reversible, so you don’t need to worry which is the right way to plug in your phone, and there is a ton of additional features that this new standard supports.

8- Fast charging

Last but not least, Galaxy A5 and A7 (2017) supported for fast charging. Powered by the 3,000 mAh one on the A5 and a 3,600 mAh on the A7, fast charging is a welcomed feature for those phones. With Galaxy A3 (2017), it has a smaller battery of 2,350mAh, so that still charge in a relatively quick time even without fast charging support.
