Sweat is the future of smartphone security

Sweat is a unique feature of an individual. Therefore, it can be used to access your handset in the same way you use your fingerprint or your face. Scientists have conducted a large number of research into the use of sweat as security for your devices. Recently, a study published in the scientific journal ChemPhysChem reveals that amino acid in sweat is a unique biological signature. This feature allows you to protect your phone to the highest level.

Every method of securing the smartphone has its problem. Firstly, other people can steal or guess your password. Sometimes people find it annoying to type or remember a long password. When it comes to fingerprints, several times, the fingerprint reader goes wrong. For now, the most advanced phone security tech is Apple’s Face ID. The iPhone X features a depth-sensor and an infra-red camera. However, a hacker has claimed to have beaten the security system with a 3D-printed mask.

To build a sweat security profile, the device would first have a ‘monitoring and recording period’ in which it continuously measures its owner’s sweat levels at various times of the day. Other factors, including age, biological sex, race and physiological state, lifestyles of the individual would also play a role in the sweat profile. After the profile is developed, the owner would be identified when holding or wearing the smartphone. Moreover, scientists claim that hackers cannot easily hack and copy the sweat profiles. Therefore, this is a safe way to protect your phone.

When will sweat security be available?

This innovative way of security is the most awaited technology in the smartphone industry. However, to turn this security into reality, it would take a long time, probably a couple of years. Let’s stay tuned and drop a comment to share with us your opinion!
