iPhone 2017 will feature curved and OLED display

According to The Nikkei Asian Review, the President of Sharp said that the future iPhone in the next year is likely to be applied OLED display technology instead of the current LTPS like right now.

Future iPhone: 5.5 inch, curved and OLED display

Compared with LTPS screens, the OLEDs offer sharper color contrast. Manufactures can be able to create curved and foldable screens due to the application of this technology. So far, the two rivals from Samsung including S7 edge and Note 7 has used the curved OLED screens. If Apple uses the technology for their new flagship, they can be a formidable opponent to Samsung.

The latest smartphones from Apple called iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 plus are said that they have no distinct difference from their predecessor iPhone 6. That might be the reason why Apple need to upgrade and innovate their new products. It is reported that the company is planning on 3 upcoming smartphones. One of those will feature 5.5 inch and OLED display, while other two will stick with the LTPS display technology.
