Galaxy S8 Bluetooth 5.0: A hidden feature

Samsung Galaxy S8 (and its bigger sibling Galaxy S8+) has managed to turn heads left and right. Almost everything about the new phones is awesome, and highly appreciated. However, there is probably one feature that many may have ignored when hearing about this new phone: the Galaxy S8 is the first phone in the world to support Bluetooth 5.0. With recent phones, you are likely to have iterations of the Bluetooth 4.0 (4.1, 4.2), which are essentially improved version of Bluetooth. Now that we have a whole new number, let’s see what is the big deal about it!

Usually, even on Bluetooth 4.0, the biggest problem is the pairing time with other devices. The pairing process has always been an annoyance with Bluetooth connection, as it is not always reliable, and may take a lot of time. However, that can now be fixed with Galaxy S8 Bluetooth 5.0, as it now has double the speed of version 4.0, and its upgraded versions. It can now transmit 800% more data! More speed will also mean less delay, even when you are watching a video via Bluetooth connection. This new speed improvement is surely a big plus to use Bluetooth now!

What is even more impressive is the range of the connection on Galaxy S8 Bluetooth 5.0. The nearer two Bluetooth devices are, the faster the connection, and range is not always Bluetooth’s strength. However, now with Bluetooth 5.0, its range is now extended, and two devices can be as far as 200 meters apart to connect (provided with no obstruction). For normal use, it is now usable in a radius about 40 meters around you. Then, there is this ultimate feature exclusively on the Galaxy S8 for now: by using Bluetooth 5.0, it enables dual audio, allowing the phone to connect to two different speakers/headsets at the same time. That’s amazing!
