Lenovo cuts 3000 jobs and gives Motorola control on mobile

Lenovo has long been on hiatus and has not released anything that can be really considered a big hit. The company is a relatively known name, and of course, their sales and products are not so bad. The problem is, there are more companies out there doing better, such as Xiaomi or Meizu. If Lenovo does not want to lose in this market, they need to improve their products. Moreover, as you all know, Lenovo has just bought off Motorola, so it is nothing new that Motorola will take over Lenovo’s mobile manufacturing.

Job-Cuts_large Lenovo has planned to lay off more than 3000 of its employees. According to reports, although their revenue has increased 3 % this year, it hasn’t reached the target of $11,29 billions. Additionally, their net income decreases dramatically, as being only half of the same period last year. This is why Lenovo decides to re-arrange their work and structure to get the company out of this red light zone. Cutting down on work force is the first move.

Not only employees, but their products will have to change as well. If Motorola is to take over the mobile business, we think Lenovo can do something different, like an advanced step forward. Motorola will continue Lenovo’s mobiles, while Lenovo will focus on computers. This seems to be a good move, considering what the two divisions are good at.

However, let us wait until the new devices are out, to see how this arrangement will go. If it is indeed the decision, then hooray, more high quality handsets will be out for us to choose. If it does not go anywhere, then of course Lenovo would suffer. Competition in the market is really hard.
