LG G6 might be launched in late February or early March

The lukewarm perception of LG G5 has made the South Korean company planed to change its strategy staring next year, by unveil earlier the next generation of its flagship, LG G6.

LG G6 might be on sales about the same time its launch

This year, they announced LG G5 at MWC 2016 and make it on sales in April. Next year, we still not knew that LG will or will not launch its next flagship LG G6 at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017 trade fair, which is scheduled for late February. However, they plans to put the LG G6 on sales around the same time, possibly in March, one month earlier than last year.

The early unveiling should serve two purposes: First, they want to boost the number of LG G6 units sold throughout the year. Secondly, they do not want to directly compete to Samsung Galaxy S8, which is rumored to be unveiled in late April. The number of LG G5 sold units are not as what they were expecting so LG plans to shift to a more “stable” smartphone strategy starting next year over “bold innovations”. The company will focus more on services and features that are popular in Android ecosystem which are payment, wireless charge as well as waterproof.

Under the new strategy, LG will drop out the semi-module design type which is not totally successful on LG G5. LG G6 rumored specs include an OLED screen and either retain the current Quad HD resolution of the G5 and V20, or bump things up a notch with a 4K display. Its performance would be supported by a Snapdragon 830 chip, backed with at least 6- or even 8 GB of RAM. The G6 will likely feature a USB Type-C port, 32GB of ROM expandable, and an 8 MP wide angle selfie lens and a 16 MP primary shooter.

LG G6: price and availability

The LG G5 launched at around $650 back in April, and the G6 will likely retain the same price tag. However, LG has always priced its flagship lower than Samsung, so with LG G6, we do believe that it will not deviate from that trend. So, we think that the price would be no cheaper than $650 or more expensive than $700.
