A new NPC conspiracy theory of GTA Online has surfaced!

Recently, some players of GTA Online have become sort of paranoia, because of the new update. They are convinced that recent updates have forced NPC (non-playable characters) drivers to drive much more aggressively, seemingly out to kill players. While most likely this is not the case, there have been enough of evidence of this occurring for it to become a popular conspiracy theory. Everything started since the Biker update last year.

Since the Biker update last year, players have noticed while playing the game that random cars would run into them in an infuriating and unnatural way. They even recorded footage of those incidents as well. Since then, all the newer updates have not helped either, as threads on Reddit about these strange occurrences have multiplied. In the latest update “Import/Export”, which revolves around stealing and driving exotic cars, the problem seemingly gets worse. You can see one example below. There are many more similar incidents.

Those crashes usually cost money in-game, so players are more prone to realize it. Instead of a brand new car worth hundred thousand dollars, players are left with just a few grand. It is possible that the bug fixes can cause this problem. Another take is that the AI actually changes, correspondingly with players’ crimes. One other popular theory is that actually Rockstar is deliberately making this change, to force players to buy more in-game credits. However, everything in-game is actually very expensive, so some players would not take this lightly.

We cannot say for certain which caused all those strange occurrences. Hopefully, Rockstar will make a statement about this soon, and fix it in the future if there are any bugs. Are you affected by these crashes?
