Yesterday, on May 12, 2014. Nokia – one of the first companies that brought cellphones to consumers all over the world, just turned 150. Yes, you are reading it right! 1-5-0 years had passed. 1. Nokia is a Finnish tech brand and its founder was Knut Fredrik Idestam.

2. Originally, Nokia was a paper mill in southern Finland set up 150 years ago, on May 12, 1865.

3. In 1987, Nokia phones started to gain some attention with the launch of its very 1st portable mobile – The Mobira Cityman. The Mobira Cityman weighed up to 800g and costed a fortune: 4,560 euros (~PHP 229,700). The phone had a nickname “Gorba” after the picture of Soviet Leader Mikhail Gorbachev using it became famous.

9. In 2004, Nokia came up with an interesting campaign, featuring Nokia’s Fashion Phone Line. From the line, the consumers had experienced Nokia 7280, aka the “lipstick”. The lipstick had black, white and red styling and a screen that turned into a mirror.

10. In 2014, the Lumia Mobile Division of Nokia was sold to Microsoft. Many claimed that it marked an end of such legend in the mobile market. However, rumors have it said, the Giant will be getting back to the smartphone market in 2016 with more offering again in the future.

People are searching for Nokia Power Ranger concept which carries 512Gb, 24.2 MP and 4GB RAM everywhere on the internet. This looks like a really positive sign.
