Qualcomm and Mediatek-powered Asus Zenfone 2 with lower price

In attempt to diversify its component suppliers list, the Taiwanese company is set to release more versions of the smartphone, therefore, Asus will replace the Intel chipset with Qualcomm and Mediatek offerings.

Launching in earlier this year, the Asus Zenfone 2 is now probably the most desirable smartphone in market, packing with a lot of amazing specs and the first 4GB device in the world.

The original is powered by Intel chipset which is targeted to higher-end market. Now, in order to give various versions with lower price, yesterday, Asus confirm that they expand to Qualcomm and Mediatek – powered offerings. Therefore, the Qualcomm version will be set in a lower price market segment and its variant will be available in Q2. The Mediatek without LTE support will be aimed to India market. According to CEO Jerry Shen (沈振來), he forecasts around 40-50 % of the shipments will use Qualcomm chips, with the remaining 50-60 percent split by Intel and MediaTek.

Do you remember its specs-wise, the Zenfone 2 is amazing device and definitely a proof that other high-end smartphone now are too pricey. Its phone reports 5.5” IPS display along with 1080p resolution and 403 ppi density. The most outstanding is 4GB/64GB of RAM as well, of course, there is 2GB/16GB also for your option. As for photography apartment, the Asus Zenfone 2 will support 13MP rear camera as well as 5MP secondary shooter. Asus improve well their battery life with 3,000 mAh battery as well.

For release date, the Zenfone 2 will first debut Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore and France in next month while Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, ThaiLand, Italy and the US will be available in April. It seems that Phi Asus lovers have to be patient and wait for the Asus Zenfone 2.
