Samsung AI chipset: better than Apple or Huawei?

Previously, Huawei has introduced the first ever AI chipset – Kirin 970. Following after, Apple became the second company to present their AI processor, the A11 Bionic. Today, Samsung has announced their plan to jump in this tech battle with their upcoming chipset flagship. In details, the Korean manufacturer has been now working on a Neural Processing Unit (NPU) decently.

Previously, Samsung has begun the development phase for the new processor in the last haft of 2017. As a result, the arrival of Samsung AI chipset got delay to this year. Regarding the chipset, Samsung stated that they had reached the same “technological levels” as other competitors, including Apple and Huawei. In details, the NPU can support all handsets in various ways.

Some of the features can process, analyse and store data without the need for a cloud server. Moreover, they claimed that the new Samsung AI chipset is going to be better and might even dominate the market in the last six month of 2018. On the other hand, Samsung has officially released another new chipset: Exynos 7872. This chip is a new member of the mid-range Exynos 5 series. You can sport this new processor on the upcoming Meizu M6s. In details, Exynos 7872 is built on a 14nm process and features a hexa-core CPU with two clusters: 2x Cortex-A73 (2.0GHz) + 4x Cortex-A53 (1.6Ghz). Moreover, the graphics power is supplied by a Mali-G71 GPU.
