New virtual assistant: Answering complex contextual questions in real time

Siri is a great invention. There’s no doubt about it. However, as technologies grow very fast, the lack of great innovation has made this virtual assistant out-dated. Though Siri is still the most popular one, its abilities are no longer the best in the industry. The fact that many core members of Siri development team have left Apple for other more promising companies also contributes to how slowly Siri evolves.

In fact, many of the former Siri development team members, including Siri co-creator, have taken part in creating Viv – a new virtual assistant. different from Siri, Viv is able to handle complicated real-time commands with multiple layers of meaning. For example, Viv can answer what the weather is in a specific place, in a specific period of time. Meanwhile, Siri can only show the current weather conditions.

Another virtual assistant better than Siri in terms of intelligence is Google Assitant. This assistant made a debut in May and now has been pre-installed in all Google Pixel/Pixel XL units. just like Viv, Google Assistant is capable of answering complicated questions in real time. Another wonderful function of Google Assistant is the ability to refer to the context. For example, you can ask this assistant for available restaurants nearby. You can even stop at a famous attraction and ask things about it without mentioning what it is!

Virtual assistant in smart devices: a new competition?

The debut of Viv and Google Assistant has started a new “battlefield” for smartphone manufacturers. While the race of hardware doesn’t seem to end, now there is a new competition in terms of software! Apple really has to step up in improving Siri or else this virtual assistant will be no longer the most popular one!
