1. Nokia Lumia 1020: Unique phone with 41MP camera

After a series of information leaks, Nokia’s best camera phone – Lumia PureView 1020 was released in July 2013, which drew the whole world’s attention. The label feature of this product is the highest resolution camera ever – 41MP.  Although owning a resolution up to 41 megapixels, the Lumia 1020 lets users take pictures at 38MP resolution or 34MP photos at a rate of 4: 3 and 16: 9. However, if you just need small files with low resolution, you can also choose to shoot at 5MP. These photos are taken and  processed by Oversampling technique of Nokia. Oversampling process is capable of processing 1 billion pixels per second, both when taking pictures and shooting video.

It packs an AMOLED 4.5 inch HD screes coated by glass Gorilla Glass 3. In terms of other specs, Lumia 1020 owns dual-core processor Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 1.5GHz, 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage space. At the time of launch, Nokia Lumia 1020 price is $475. Even though, it hasn’t been manufactured anymore, Lumia 1020 is still considered the last echo of Nokia empire before being taken over by Microsoft.

2. Samsung Galaxy Beam 2: Unique phone with projector

In July 2014, Samsung surprised  Sam-fans with a pico project integrated phone – Samsung Galaxy Beam. It is a special Android smartphone with a projector built-in on the top so you can beam photos and video from the phone onto walls after turning it on and off via a  button or launching the projector app. The app can help you adjust the focus, rotate the orientation and adjust the brightness. The projector has a resolution of SD 800×480 pixels with 15-lumen-brightness while most of home cinema projectors has Full HD resolution (1920×1080) and 700-2000 lumens lens. The original price is about $555, which is relatively high.

3. Oppo N3: Unique phone with Rotatable lens

This rotatable lens smartphone was first unveiled in October, 2015. The highlight of Oppo N3 is its motorized swivel 16GB camera that can track objects as they move, and can rotate up to 206 degrees. Oppo N3 is an improvement of Oppo N1, a 2-year-older phone with rotatable phone. However in N3, you just simply touch the screen instead of the lens to swivel and control the camera. As for other specs, Oppo owns Snapdragon 801 chipset, 2GB RAM, 32GB ROM, finger sensor on the back side and 3000 mAh. You can buy Oppo N3 now with about $615.

4. Google Ara: Unique phone with interchangeable parts

Google Ara is one of the most creatively designed phone in the world. There were a lot of rumors about this project. Google even had an official announcement for Ara phone, which held smartphone users’ breath. It has incredible interchangeable separated parts which can be connected to a main frame then we have a perfect phone. However, sadly, this project is considered to be DEAD. The hardware production issue, human resources loss and lack of component communication are 3 main reasons why Google decided to stop this promising project. Nevertheless, LG G5, Fairphone 2 and Motor Z are 3 available replacements for Ara.

5. Lenovo CPlus: Bendable unique phone

Lenovo Cplus must be the last-but-not-least in any top unique phones. In June 2016, Lenovo CPlus prototype was shown at Lenovo Tech World which is an evidence of Lenovo’s potential. It is the first wearable bendable phone in the world with 4.26-inch flexible Display. The CPlus is a combination of an Android phone and a slap bracelet – you just have to hit across your wrist and it would curl around. Nokia, Samsung, and LG also try to bring a bendable to the market, however, Lenovo newly introduced one is the most possible to be for commercial use.
