It ultimately led to the mass recall of the devices, not once, but twice. Of course, it affected Samsung tremendously: its sale for the quarter plummeted, its reputation negatively affected.

Why did those elegant and powerful Note 7 explode? Initially, Samsung said that it was a battery problem that caused the explosion after the first investigation. In fact, Samsung’s own battery manufacturing subsidiary is blamed for this. After the first recall, the Note 7 was resumed on sale again. Everything still did not work out, and some devices still exploded. That had lead to the mass recall for the second time. Some time after, Samsung decided to discontinue the product, ending the short life cycle of an otherwise promising device.

Since the discontinuation, Samsung has been investigating thoroughly to find the answer to why Note 7 exploded, not only once but twice. According to some reports in Korea, Samsung’s home turf, he final result of the investigation will be revealed to the public before the end of 2016.
