Xiaomi Mi 6 may launch with Snapdragon 821 initially, with S835 later

A new leak suggested the Xiaomi Mi 6 may launch with two different processors. The first one to come will use Snapdragon 821, while the later will use Snapdragon 835.

Once again, Snapdragon 835 shortage has caused problem for another Android maker. This time it’s Xiaomi with their Mi 6. According to rumors, the flagship will come in two variants using two different processors. The one with Snapdragon 821 will come first to meet market demand. The S835 version will be launched soon after that. Apparently, Xiaomi has planned to offer three variants of the Xiaomi Mi 6: two with a metal body, 4GB of RAM and 32/64GB ROM, the other with a ceramic body, 6GB of RAM and 128GB of native storage.

As for Xiaomi Mi 6 other specs, the smartphone is going to sport a 5.15″ 2K IPS LCD display with a 2.5D glass on the top. The phone is said to be equipped with a primary shooter which is to be similar to the camera of the new Sony Xperia XZ Premium. If this is true, the Mi 6 could have a Sony Exmor RS lens that comes with 18MP and is able to record videos in 960 frames per second. The front camera will have a 4MP sensor with f/2.0, capable of recording 1080p videos.

Other features include a non-removable battery of unknown capacity and fast battery charging technology. The phone also supports USB Type-C. Due to its design, the phone may not support addition storage via microSD card. The phone will run on the latest Android 7.0 version with MIUI 8.0.

Xiaomi Mi 6: price and availability

The basic version of Xiaom Mi 6 with 4 GB of RAM + 32 GB of ROM will cost around CNY 1999 ($290), while the ceramic body variant with 6GB of RAM + 128GB is available for CNY 2500 ($365). Keep in mind that the price is not final and could change when the phone get released.
