Xiaomi Mi4i launch: cheaper and lighter version of the Xiaomi Mi4

After repeated teasing on Twitter, Xiaomi launched the Xiaomi Mi4i in the New Delhi in the end.

It is cheaper and more plastic than the Mi4 with polycarbonate unibody design of 7.8 mm thick and 130g weighed, equal to 12 percent thinner and 13 percent lighter than the latter.

The Mi4i is equipped with a 5 inch 1080p 441ppi IPS display with Corning Concore glass. Additionally, the Sunlight Display supports adjusting screen brightness and increasing image quality automatically when the light is harsh. The Mi4i operates on a 2nd gen 64-bit quad-core Snapdragon 615 running at both 1.7 GHz and 1.1 GHz with an Adreno 405 CPU. The processor is well combined with to 2GB RAM, 16GB and dual –SIM connectivity. Although the Mi4i and Mi4 both have no microSD slot, Mi4i is slightly more innovative thanks to 3120 mAH battery and Quick Charge.

The Mi4i is Xiaomi ‘s first smartphone running Android 5.0 Lollipop with MIUI 6.0 out of the box. As for the camera, the rear one is a Sony/ Samsung 13 megapixel shooter accompanied with Xiaomi ‘s 5-element lens and f/2.0 aperture and the front is a 5 megapixel lens with 5-element lens, f/1.8 aperture and a 80 degree wide angle as well. The front camera has the Beauty feature set as default to meet popular demand. So, these characteristics is much more satisfactory to users than the Mi4 which has a very minor upgrade on part of the rear camera.

The Mi4i also overcomes other devices in the market by Visual IVR that has never been offered before, letting users to skip voice prompts by having it displayed on the screen instead.

Expected to come to the Philippines soon, the Xiaomi Mi4i is supposed to be available in blue, white, black, yellow, pink. If there is no gap in its price among the different markets, it is hoped to be sold at PHP 9,071 in the Philippines.
