In order to celebrate their upcoming anniversary, Xiaomi has just launched their entry-level Xiaomi Redmi 2A. The Redmi 2A, as we can easily understand, from its name, it is a new upgraded version of Xiaomi Redmi 2. Considering from these devices, no many differences in terms of specifications and features. So, how to disguish them?

Redmi 2 and the Redmi 2A have the dimensions, and are slightly chunky at 9.4mm. As for the weight, the latter is a shade lighter than the former.

Size

Redmi 2 and Remi 2A are shipped with the same size (134×67.2×9.4mm) and theirs solid outlook. Although the upgraded version (133 gr) is 1g lighter than the original (132) but i guess that it’s unworthy to notice.

For the size, users find pretty easy to hold on one hand so the phones are absolutely suitable for anyone, even those with small hand.

Display

Both of them comes with the same 4.7″ 720 HD display pair with the same 312 ppi density which is acceptable display in most mid-end handset at the time.

Storage

There is now way to discriminate them due to the same internal storage. The phones actually boast 8GB storage on-board which can be expandable up to 32 GB via microSD Card.

Photography

Another part that remain unchanged in both devices is the camera. Technical parameter shows that Redmi 2 and Redmi 2A have an 8MP main camera along with LED flash pair with a 2MP front -facing snapper. Compared to other devices in the same class, the Redmi 2 and also 2A still stand out with a higher quality of photos.

Battery and Software

In order to make everything inside run smoothly, Xiaomi gave both smartphones a sufficient battery of 2,200 mAh. It’s not really powerful and ensures longlasting day consumption but at least, it’s enough when packing with 4.7″ HD display.

Moreover, logically both of them run on the Andoid KitKat based MIUI 6.

Processor and RAM

We can luckily see the clear differences when looking at their processor and RAM. Where the Redmi 2 is powered by a 1.2GHz Snapdragon 410 quad-core 64-bit processor, the Redmi 2A is shipped with a 1.5GHz Leadcore L1860C quad-core chipset.

The Snapdragon processor is paired with Mali T628 GPU and 1GB RAM, while the Leadcore processor combine with an Adreno 306 GPU and 1GB RAM.

From Benchmark score, the latter shows a higher points than its former. Therefore, the Redmi 2 scores at more than 20,000 points while the Redmi 2A is more than 23,000.

Price

The release price of Xiaomi Redmi 2 was 699 Yuan (or PHP 5,080) while the Redmi 2A cost you only 599 Yuan (or PHP 4353).

In conclusion

In totally, both devices share the same display, size, internal storage, same photography feature, battery, software except for a higher Benchmark sore and lower price of Xiaomi Redmi 2A.
