Xiaomi’s history: How Xiaomi be on Top 5 world’s largest smartphone vendor

Xiaomi is really a young company which is celebrated the fifth birthday as a company this Summer 2014, and only the fourth for selling smartphones. And now, Xiaomi is on the Top 5 world’s largest flagship vendor. Looking back the history of Xiaomi, although they don’t have too many devices on their portfolio, but needless to say, most of them are remarkable products with high specs as well as reasonable price, such as: Redmi Note, Redmi Note Pro, Mi 4.

Xiaomi was established in 2010 but they didn’t sell smartphones after that. Their first product is MIUI Operation System. In 201, they sold 1 million flagship smartphone units, even beats out famous brand, such as: LG, Sony as well as Motorola.

Recently, this start-up company is trying to enter big market, including North America and Europe although always be criticized for “borrowing” many inspiration of Apple. However, Xiaomi is still a desirable company which have been paid much attention.

Xiaomi Mi 1

Mi 1 is the first smartphone of Xiaomi which was released on Oct 2011 in China, but was pre-ordered in September. At that time, Galaxy S2 was a “super hot” device so Xiaomi did beat out Samsung with an attractive price tag of 300 USD. Besides that, Mi 1 was packed 4 inch along with 480 x 854 pixel resolution, 8MP rear camera, DualCore 1.5 Ghz Snapdragon S3 CPU, 1GB of RAM. Xiaomi had 300.000 pre-orders for only 3 days. Xiaomi launched a slightly faster version, the Xiaomi Mi 1S with 1.7Ghz Snapdragon.

Xiaomi Mi 2

Xiaomi introduced Xiaomi Mi 2 in August 2012. One again, its product had a initial cost of about 300 USD but packing many high specs, including: 4.3 inch, 720 x 1280 pixel resolution, quad-core Snapdragon S4 clocked at 1.5Ghz, and most importantly 2GB of RAM. Its upgraded version was used Snapdragon S600.

Xiaomi Hongmi/ Redmi 1

In summer 2013, Xiaomi was debut the market with their first mid-range: Hongmi. Its first released price of good 130 USD in China, Hongmi reports 4.7 inch 720p, 8MP camera as well as 1GB of RAM, expandable storage. While Xiaomi Hongmi utilize quadcore Mediatek, Redmi 1S version use Snapdragon 400.

Xiaomi Redmi Note

Xiaomi Redmi Note is a good choice for anyone who needs a 5.5″ 720p but don’t have too much money. Xiaomi Redmi Note was released on March 2014 and was powered by Octa-Core Mediatek Version or Quad-Core Snapdragon 400 for the 4G Version. Of course, its handset was sold as a hot cakes with a cost of 160 USD.

Xiaomi Mi 4

Mi 4 is the next generation, Mi 3 sucessor, was introduced in China and some Asian countries on July 2014 at a price tag of 320USD (for 16GB version) and 410 USD (for 64GB version). Xiaomi Mi 4 reports 5″ 1080p, 8MP front-facing shooter as well as 13MP main cam, Snapdragon 801 chipset, 3GB of RAM, 2 days continuously battery consumption.

Xiaomi Redmi 2

Redmi 2 is the upgrade generation of Redmi 1, keep the same 4.7 inch 720p but adding LTE connectivity, Snapdragon 410 64-bit chipset. Its device was released on ealier 2015 at a price tag of 110 USD.

The Note and Note Pro finally mark Xiaomi’s entry in the premium smartphone market. The Note comes with huge 5.7″ Full HD display, 3GB RAM and Snapdragon 801.The Xiaomi Mi Pro is a real Spec Beast with 2K QHD 5.7″ Display, 4GB of RAM and Snapdragon 810. At the moment only the Xiaomi Note is selling in China for around 400USD. The Xiaomi Mi Note Pro will be released in China, with a price of 530USD its Xiaomi’s most expensive flagship so far.
