YouTube to removes conspiracy theory videos on Kids Channel!

In March 2018, YouTube has caught up in the claim that they were suggesting many conspiracy videos to children. Notably, various videos of this category have made their way to the YouTube Kids channel. For example, when we search for “moon landing”, we usually see footages or videos related to this search. However, there is a returned video arguing that NASA had faked that event in the suggested section.

Moreover, a quick search for “UFO” led to videos by David Icke, a veteran conspiracist who states that the Earth is under control of a secret race of “lizard people.” While this kind of content doesn’t violate YouTube’s guideline, it is now very appropriate for children. As a result, YouTube is currently working on to remove all of those videos from their inventory. For now, they have removed at least 25 videos belonging to this category.

Besides, adult users on the page can still find the conspiracy theory videos on the social media. On the other hand, the social media has run into quite big troubles since the beginning of 2018. Previously, they have set up an Intelligence Desk team to prevent these emotionally inflammatory videos from hitting the site before getting attached to an ad from a company that would not sponsor such claims. For instance, after Valentine’s Day school shooting in Parkland, (Florida, US). The survivors of the attack who publicly went after the NRA and the government were deemed as “crisis actors”. Notably, videos started appearing from creators suggesting that the shooting never took place.
