Samsung Exynos 5100: the world’s first ever 5G modem!

Based on many reports, Samsung has been working on the development of their 5G modem. Previously, the Korean manufacturer presented the first demo device at the CES 2018 event last March. Today, the brand formally announced the finished product under the name Exynos 5100. Notably, this is Samsung’s first 5G modem and complies with the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) standards, the most up-to-date standard specification for 5G New Radio (5G-NR).

In details, the Samsung Exynos 5100 has many similarities to the processor in the current Exynos 9810 chipset. Firstly, the modem is built on the 10nm manufacturing process supporting legacy networks like 2G GSM/CDMA, 3G WCDMA, TD-SCDMA, HSPA, and 4G LTE within a single chip solution. Moreover, the Samsung Exynos 5100 is a fully capable 5G networking hardware. It can support sub-6GHz and mmWave spectrum defined by the 3GPP (3rd Generation Partnership Project).

On the other hand, the chip can reach theoretical speeds of up to 2Gbps using the sub-6GHz frequency and up to 6Gbps on the mmWave. This is 1.7 times and five times faster transfer speeds over its predecessor when using the sub-6GHz and the mmWave settings, respectively. As a result, the chip is a significant breakthrough for the end user as well as help bringing closer some long-anticipated technologies like IoT (Internet of Things), holograms, ultra-high resolution videos, real-time AI and autonomous driving technologies.

Huawei Mate 20’s Kirin 980 chipset revealed with 2.4 GHz octa-core CPU

As we learned, the Kirin 980 processor is the most awaited successor of the Kirin 970. The chipset is in progress of landing and is going to go along with the upcoming Mate 20 lineup. Back to the April report, the Kirin 980 promises to be better than the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset with high performance and power efficiency. Today, a new report emerges, not only confirming all of that but also adding some to its specs. In details, the chipset is built on a 7nm process with crazy power efficiency and a 2.8GHz max clock speed.

Additionally, the Kirin 980 runs octa-core CPU in 4x Cortex-A77 + 4x Cortex-A55 configuration. The first cluster is clocked at 2.8 GHz. Whereas, there isn’t anything official about the clock speeds of the small Cortex-A55 cores. With the Mali-G72 MP24 GPU, it should be an effective enhancement over the Mali-G72 MP12 in the current Kirin 970 SoC. According to the source, the phone comes with the new style notched display and gradient colour, just like the Honor 10. Besides, this handset equips a 2.5D curved glass unibody with metal that takes heating and keeps the phone temperature in check. Furthermore, there are three colour options: black, white and a colourful gradient scheme.

Under the hood, the Motorola Moto P30 specs feature a 6.2-inch IPS LCD with a resolution of 1080 x 2280 pixels, 19:9 ratio. Besides, the phone runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chipset, paired with 6GB of RAM and either 64GB or 128GB of internal storage. As far as it concerns, the Twitter Lite app was launched in April 2017 and now available in only 24 countries. Starting Tuesday (August 14), Twitter Lite is available in 21 more countries, including India. Thus, the app is now available in 45 countries worldwide. Indian users can download the app via the Google Play store.

Meanwhile, 21 more countries include Argentina, Belarus, Dominican Republic, Ghana, Guatemala, Honduras and India. On the other side, there would be Indonesia, Jordan, Kenya, Lebanon, Morocco, Nicaragua, Paraguay. Furthermore, Romania, Turkey, Uganda, Ukraine, Uruguay, Yemen, and Zimbabwe are included in the list. As expected, Twitter Lite is a way to help users save mobile data and also storage space.
