Previously, Samsung has already brought a heart rate sensor on their Galaxy S and Note series. According to the patent of Samsung, it is titled “Real-Time Authentication Based on Blood Flow Parameters”. The patent describes a method to identify users by blood flow patterns in the finger or in the wrist.

This means of security might be more reliable and safe to protect your smartphones from hackers. Besides, the patent also displays that both smartphones and smartwatches are using this technology. The smartphones house this sensor on the back, where we mostly find the fingerprint scanner. This blood sensor records the blood flow data to generate a waveform pattern for the authentication.

However, this new software has to take into account the change in the blood pressures due to user’s physical and mental status.
