Oppo R9s duo: 6GB RAM, 16MP cameras

Compared to their successors, the new Oppo phones have many things in common. Design-wise, the handsets sport very similar appearance with other phones of Oppo. However, there’re still some differences which you can easily recognize on the back. These metallic devices don’t come with one thick antenna lines, but 3 thin ones instead. This small change gave the R9s duo a skeeker and more elegant look. These devices are both great camera smartphones packing a 16MP selfie snapper with the aperture of f/2.0. On the back, they all sport a 16MP Sony IMX398 cam with f/1.7, LED flash, 4K video recording, and image stabilization. However, R9s camera comes with EIS while R9s Plus supports OIS.

Despite having many features in common, these siblings also have certain differences. Let’s come to Oppo R9s first. Under the hood, the phone is powered by a 2.0Ghz octa-core SND 625 processor and runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. It packs 4GB RAM paired with 64GB of expandable storage (+256GB). It owns a 5.5-inch screen with the resolution of 1080 x 1920px (Full HD). This AMOLED display is coated with 2.5D curved Corning Gorilla Glass 5. This new Oppo phone runs on Color OS 3.0 based on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS. R9s is backed up with a 3010mAh battery supported with Quick charge VOOC.

Since R9s Plus is the plus version, Oppo R9s Plus specs will be better than Oppo R9s specs. This Plus device will be the first phone to have the newest Qualcomm chipset- a 1.95Ghz octa-core SND 653 processor. There will be 6GB RAM along with 64GB of inbuilt storage which can be expanded up to 256GB. It uses Android Marshmallow OS. The handset features a 6-inch Full HD AMOLED display and a huge amount of 4000mAh battery capacity. This phone also supports VOOC charge and fingerprint sensor embedded on the home button like its sibling.

Oppo R9s duo: price and release date

With these strong specs above, both R9s and R9s Plus will immediately get into the list of best camera phones in the market. They will become the fierce rivals to many devices like Galaxy C9 Pro or iPhone 7. Oppo R9s release date will be on 28th October in China. Meanwhile R9s Plus will be available in this December. Oppo R9s price is quoted at about $415. Oppo R9s Plus price is higher with $519 ~ RM. 2169. The smartphone has been revealed lately and it seems to be available in China only. No information about its price is announced so it’s still a mystery. A recent experiencing test has confirmed the data writing speed of iPhone 7 256GB model is up to 8 times faster than the 32GB version due to the characteristics of the memory chip. Why don’t we take a look at the detail of the experiment on iPhone 7 storage performance?

Apple officially abandoned on iPhone 7 16GB variant, marked the 32GB version for the lowest storage. However, it seems that users are disproportionately disadvantaged when they buy this version. Through a comparative test of speed, GSMArena showed a Basemark OS results. According to the report, iPhone 7 and 7 Plus 32GB version seems to work slower than the same machine with a higher capacity, namely the iPhone 7/7 Plus 128GB and 256GB.  

Recently, a well-known Youtuber – Lew Hilsenteger from Unbox Therapy channel did a test on iPhone 7 storage performance: 32GB vs 256GB ROM model. In the videos, he used Performance Test Mobile software download from the Apple Store as the testing tool. Reading speed of both devices is very high, 32GB version can read 686MB/s while 256GB can read 856MB/s. Although the difference is about 200MB/s, but at such high speeds, users can not recognize the significant differences. On the other side, while the 32GB version reaches 42MB/s writing speed, iPhone 7 256GB ROM is 8 times faster and reached the threshold 341MB/s. Then he tested their performance on copying data from PC to iPhone, 256GB version receive a 4,2GB movie in 2 mins 34 secs, whilst the 32GB takes 3 min 40 secs.

The reason for this significant difference in data writing speed is the result of their Flash Memory different structure. The larger capacity memory chip has, the more multiple parallel  NAND Flash is integrated. When running the copy job, the data is written simultaneously to all NAND flash range to achieve maximum speed. This means that for the same period, the high-capacity memory will burn more data than that of low storage device, which has fewer built-in NAND chips.

Predicted iPhone 7 storage performance difference

Although Apple has “blinded” their customers by saying that there was no difference between the various versions of iPhone 7, the test result is not too surprising. Larger SSD has been proved to  have better performance. Therefore, if the storage speed is an important factor to you, you will probably prefer to spend a little more money to buy a 128GB or 256GB iPhone. Talking more specifically about the upcoming Nokia phones, Microsoft has pledged to fully and comprehensively cooperate with Global HMD – a Finnish company. They will jointly promote the return of the Nokia brand into the market to bring consumers new experiences and satisfaction. The big oldie of the mobile industry is still expected to keep track with smartphone business. In a meeting with a Vietnamese company, senior staff of Microsoft has announced that Nokia will officially return. Mr. James Rutherfoord – CEO of mobile device commodities of Microsoft Asia also stated that some factories and manufacturing technology sold to Foxconn in last May were only meant for producing feature phones. Microsoft is still the owner of Lumia and Nokia smartphone technology under HMD’s technological development. Microsoft and Global HMD has made an agreement so that HMD has a license to exploit Nokia Brand for the next 10 years and HMD confirmed that they are planning to launch some new Nokia devices.

We can expect those will be Nokia P1 and Nokia C1 will the previous leaked information. After teasing the whole of Internet with vague images, Rockstar has finally showed its card: Red Dead Redemption 2. The game is expected to come in 2017. Let’s see what we have so far!

A few days ago, Rockstar has teased everyone with blurry images of an upcoming game. However, now the fog has cleared: we will be getting Red Dead Redemption 2 in the fall of 2017. The second installment of the massive hit Red Dead Redemption has now become real, much to the delight of fans. Rockstar has put up an official poster, noting that on Thursday, October 20 at 11 AM EST, a trailer will be released. For now, that’s all we know from the publisher.

Right after that, research firm Cowen & Company has predicted that the game could sell at least 15 million copies, and that is just being modest! In its statement, the firm said that the prediction comes from the fact that the first game was a critically acclaimed hit, and has grown in stature over the years. As of February 2012, Red Dead Redemption sold 13 million copies. Right after the announcement of Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar’s parent company, Take Two, saw its stock price went up by quite a lot.

For now, we don’t know much about the game. On the poster, we can see 7 people, each wielding guns, from pistol to shotgun. There are speculation that his game could be a prequel to the first game. However, Rockstar has left a message that this game will have multiplayer mode. Rockstar’s GTA V, released in 2013, has earned more than $500 million. So, we expect the mode to be good as well!

Qualcomm has just announced their newest chipsets- Snapdragon 653, 626, and 427. Those are the successor of SND 652, 625, and 425 respectively. The new Snapdragon SoCs will support smoother performance, better connectivity, clearer cameras, and more.

Snapdragon 652, 625, and 425 are the three popular mid-range chipsets from Qualcomm. This US company has just brought the successors of these three SoCs to the market – namely SND 653, 626, and 427. These new Snapdragon chipsets will enhance the performance and connectivity of future smartphones. Moreover, Qualcomm could probably add Quick Charge 3.0 to the new Snapdragon CPU. Besides many features in common, each of the three has its own abilities.

First, let’s take a look at SND 653. If you remember, this chipset used to show up on Antutu benchmark along with Oppo R9s Plus. Compared to SND 652, this SND 653 will improve performance to 10% with the maximum speed of 1.95Ghz. Not only is performance boosted, the RAM amount will be doubled to 8GB.
