Lithium-oxygen (aka Li-air) has energy density benefits that are better than current lithium-ion cells and considered as the base for the “ultimate battery“. Specially, it is able to offer ten times the theoretical energy density of current batts, which means we can see smaller, cheaper and longer lasting ones for some small tools or vehicles powered by batts. If we used to think that a “ultimate battery” was just a dream, now the huge potential benefits of Li-air can change your mind thanks to the researchers of the University of Cambridge.

Yes, they have found a way to demonstrate a new kind of cell known as lithium-oxygen which is 90 percent more efficient and stable than what they tried in some experiments before. In addition, it can be recharged more than 2000 times. How amazing! Yet, we also need to be aware of some difficulties in emerging such battery techs. Obviously, it has to keep pace with the machine’s processor and deal with some energy sapping components inside the gadget in order to prevent a decrease in use time.

Besides, they also found an alternative – post-lithium batteries which are essential to automotive development and green energy storage industries but whether it can help create an “ultimate battery” is another story.

“While there are still plenty of fundamental studies that remain to be done, to iron out some of the mechanistic details, the current results are extremely exciting – we are still very much at the development stage, but we’ve shown that there are solutions to some of the tough problems associated with this technology,” – Professor Clare Grey of Cambridge’s Department of Chemistry

Anyhow, it means “ultimate battery” can come true…

Anyhow, we assume that this is a good sign for the idea “ultimate battery”. There are obstacles but at least the researchers are really trying to solve them. If it comes true, smartphones in particular will possibly last all week with just a single charge. Doesn’t it sound great?

Lenovo Vibe X3 has launched recently with strong 3GB RAM and a fantastic 21MP camera. Not long before that, the company also introduced a smartphone called Lenovo Vibe S1 also equipped with 3GB RAM and a special front cam. So, how are they different from each other?

For a general look at their designs, we see that the X3 is bigger, thicker and heavier than the S1, which can be understood easily since it has a bigger screen: 5.5 FHD inches vs 5.0 FHD inches, respectively. So, they seem to represent a true smartphone and a true phablet in this comparison. Despite being not as big as its sibling, the S1 has higher pixel density: 441ppi vs 401ppi.

For other specs, it is obvious that the phones are mainly different from each other in terms of processor, camera and battery. The MediaTek and Snapdragon chip are all strong but there are some minor differences you need to know. The MT6752 chipset has an integrated LTE cellular chip capable of downloading at faster speeds while SD 808 does not. However, SD 808 has something more special. It uses big.LITTLE tech to switch between two sets of processor cores with a purpose of maximizing performance and battery life. For instance, if you play games, the stronger cores will be used but if you just need to check emails, the less powerful cores will be used in order to increase the handset’s battery life. By the way, we want to note the Vibe X3’s cell is larger than its competitor’s and surely will enable the device to last longer.

About camera, we cannot deny that Lenovo Vibe X3 totally beats the Vibe S1 thanks to its 23MP rear snapper. Actually, we did not think that someday Lenovo would focus on the ability of taking photos, but they have somewhat succeeded in surprising us with the X3’s cam. Even the front one is awesome for selfie lovers when capable of 8 megapixels. Nonetheless, S1 is the winner due to its dual shooter: one an 8MP and the other is 2MP. The former is to capture the picture while the latter is to add the depth-of-field effect to the pic by blurring the background. We have seen a similar setup earlier too, but only in rear cameras.

Nokia E1 vs Nokia E7: Winner of Design

First thing to keep in mind is that, the devices do NOT feature the same operating system. Nokia E1 is likely to go with Android 5.0 Lollipop OS and Nokia Z Launcher while Nokia E7 had Symbian 3 (upgradable to Nokia Belle OS). As for the display, the difference is also noticeable. E7 has a 4.0-inch 360 x 640 pixels screen and E1 features a 4.95-inch Full HD IPS one. Though different in size and display density, both handsets are super handy in use.

iPhone 7 concept designs – creativity has no limit

The first iPhone 7 concept we want to introduce belongs to talented Mesut G. Designs. The handset is inspired by a real smartphone by Apple, adapting Samsung’s famous curved display. Next, we have a very realistic iPhone 7 concept by a Czech student named Marek Weidlich. His iPhone 7 is obviously inspired by Apple smartwatch interface with iOS 10 under the hood. You can also notice the physical home button is missing on this design.

Coming up next is a beautiful bezel-less iPhone 7 concept design, another artwork by Mesut G. The handset also feature a curved display like that of Galaxy S6 Edge, with neon-light home button located right on the screen. In contrast, we have the 4th iPhone 7 concept design, with all metal body and very solid (yet still slim) bezels. This design is anonymous for now, and stands out from the rest with a very catchy back color: bright red, blue and gold!

Last but not least, we want to introduce 2 other practical designs for the iPhone 7 smartphone. One looks like a machine already in real life, with grey metal body, but without physical home button. The other, by designer Vuk Nemanja Zoraja, looks like an actual iPhone 6S getting upgraded. The typical Home button is remained, but the screen is made bigger and the rears become slimmer.

Although each of the 6 iPhone 7 concept carries a separate signature from each different designer, they do share some particular features in common. I have notice, most of the artists prefer a non-physical home button, a bigger screen and as slim bezels as possible. Before I start, I want to make sure we are clear that, even with massive internal storage, and extra card is always appreciated. What I am trying to discuss here is that, between a 16GB ROM + 16GB Card memory and a full 32GB ROM, I would always go with the 2nd options, even though sometimes it costs a bit more. Here are the reasons for my choice! And I bet you will be convinced to do the same!

First of all, having more free space in your phone always does a good job in boosting the device’s performance. A strong RAM together with a large ROM is a best combination any phone needs, to work smoothly and support better multi task. Secondly, inserting a microSD card can be complicated: you may need to rearrange, reformat your phone after each and every time you take the card out, which never (or super rarely) happens within your internal storage.

Thirdly, the extra cards don’t usually last very long, which may loose many of your important files. Next, transferring files between your internal storage to other devices is safer from viruses than inserting a microSD. Last but not least, if the phone doesn’t even have the slot, it saves your phone from having more dust damage, water damage and make the body more solid.

5 Sony Xperia M4 Aqua highlights

As I am using the device at the moment, here are 8 best and worst features about the Xperia M4 Aqua, in my personal opinion. Let’s start with 5 things I really like about this handset. First of all, like most Xperia smartphone, the M4 Aqua display sports a compact 5.0 inch that perfectly fits in your hand, making it convenient to be put in the pocket and carried with you to anywhere

Secondly, Sony Xperia M4 Aqua cameras is good enough to please any photo addicts. Featuring 13MP/5MP camera, Sony sensors really make a difference from other competitor with the same resolutions. The M4 Aqua cameras are especially good at taking pictures under low light conditions. You will absolutely be wowed the first time you try capturing your selfie at night. Edited: You will still be wowed every single time, trust me!

Next, Sony Xperia M4 Aqua, despite the budget price, still offers water-proof technology. Water proof used to be the one feature that many of us associate with higher-end flagships. Of course the M4 Aqua can not stay in water in as long time as other premium Xperia smartphones like the Xperia M5 or Z5 family. 

The fourth highlight I want to mention about Sony Xperia M4 Aqua is that, the smartphone comes with both Dual SIM and MicroSD card slot. This gives users more options when they want to add in a second SIM or expand the device’s internal storage.

Last but not least, I absolutely like my Xperia M4 Aqua design. The handset features classy slim body that looks great in your hand. I have had one funny memory, when many people kept asking whether my phone was the higher-end Xperia Z3. If you take a comparison, they really look similar visually.

3 Sony Xperia M4 Aqua weaknesses

However, like most devices, the Xperia M4 Aqua also has some drawbacks. Here are the 3 features I find most significant to the phone’s performance. Firstly, the handset is powered by Snapdragon 615, which results in some heating problem. It won’t occur right away, but after using continuously, you can feel the machine heating up.

Next, Sony Xperia M4 Aqua battery is only 2,400 mAH in capacity. A new phone can work for more than 1 day under normal usage. However, this will be degraded soon and after some time, I guess we would need to charge much more often. To add in, the battery is non-removable, meaning you can not take it out in emergency situations.

Thirdly, the Xperia M4 Aqua is not the best choice for multi tasking. It works smoothly most of the time, but when you try to perform too many functions at the same time, the machine seems to slow down a bit. I never incurred a sudden machine freeze or shut down, but if you want to buy this handset, you should totally expect a decrease in speed when multi tasking.

As you can see, Sony Xperia M4 Aqua highlights still outweigh its drawbacks. With USD 270 price tag, the handset is one of my all-time favorite mid-range smartphones.

The main camera is capable of 13 megapixels while the front is of 4 megapixels. At this point, perhaps the Note 5 is better. You can get one Xiaomi Mi Note Pro with 3,299 Yuan ($532).

5. Samsung Galaxy Note 5

On the contrary, Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is a budget smartphone but a premium flagship phone from the Korean giant Samsung.
