1. Cyanogen OS

Cyanogen is a familiar name in the “best OS based on Android” market. The first device which this OS was installed is OnePlus One (the first generation of the company). And now, Cyanogen has become more popular. You can see this OS on YU smartphones (a subsidy of Micromax brand).

This OS allow you to customize everything on OS, from themes, controls to camera interface, gallery, etc. The company is trying to take off Google services from their OS. They’ve made an agreement with Microsoft to use their services (Outlook, Cortana) instead of Google’s (Gmail, Google Now).

2. MIUI OS

MIUI is one of the best OS in the market. We all know that Xiaomi smartphones are very popular, especially in Asia. And this makes this OS from Xiaomi more well-known by many users. However, MIUI interface is very similar to iOS. In China (where Google services are not installed in Chinese smartphones), Xiaomi MIUI is the separated OS. However, in the other markets, it’s still an Android OS. Because Xiaomi smartphones in these markets are still installed will Google service.

3. Alibaba YunOS

YunOS catches many people’s attention thanks to Alibaba’s backing. This company is one of the biggest e-commerce companies in China. Smartphone brand -Meizu- is now using this OS for their products. The cloud store service of Alibaba is an attached part of YunOS. Having forged the cooperation with Meizu, YunOS is now growing very fast with the growth rate of 700%. With this growth, this OS is expected to be installed in more than 100 million smartphones this year.

4. Amazon Fire OS

The next best OS is from Amazon. Fire OS is now applied for tablet (Kindle Fire), TV (Fire TV), and smartphone (Fire Phone). The Amazon OS was developed based on Android OS. Everything on this OS is aimed at the services of the company like prime Video or Kindle. Among three products of Amazon, Fire TV is the most successful device. It is the tough competitor of the other TVs in the market, while Fire Phone is the failure at the beginning.

5. Tizen OS

Last but not least, Tizen OS from Samsung. This OS has similar interface to Android OS and can run on Android apps. Despite the same look, Tizen works differently from Android. It’s an HTML5 OS. Samsung already launched some devices running on this OS like Z1, Z3, and smartwatch or Smart TV. Last year, the Korean giant sold about 3 million Tizen smartphones. This could be the hope for the operating system of Samsung
