Blackberry Mercury leaked: Dual curved edge, SND 821 and more

After Blackberry Priv, Blackberry confirmed to launch other 3 Blackberry smartphones. The first two have been already launched namely DTEK 50 and DTEK 60. The third phone is probably BlackBerry Mercury, which has been scheduled for release in the early 2017.

Blackberry Mercury: The comeback of QWERTY keyboard

Only a few hours after Blackberry confirmed to launch of a brand new smartphone at CES 2017, the first image of the phone was leaked. This Android smartphone is labelled Mercury. After Blackberry Priv, Blackberry confirmed to launch other 3 Blackberry smartphones. The first two have been already launched namely DTEK 50 and DTEK 60. This Mercury seems to be the third one. Its design is a combination of curved screen and physical QWERTY keyboard, the typical feature of Blackberry.

BlackBerry Mercury  is equipped with a small screen size, only 4.5 inches, to leave a place for a physical keyboard. However, this is a dual curved screen with 1920×1080 resolution. Under the hood, this Blackberry will be powered by 2.0 GHz Snapdragon 821 processor paired with 3GB RAM and expandable 32GB ROM. As for the photography, this handset sports a 18MP primary camera and 8MP selfie snapper.

This phone is predicted to run Android 7.0 Nougat as in previous rumors. The promotion photo also revealed that the smartphone is integrated a fingerprint sensor embedded into the touchscreen, the new trend of smartphones in 2017. As a business phone, it also has a large battery for 2 days. Blackberry Mercury is predicted to be the last smartphone Blackberry produces and releases on their own before TCL officially acquired Blackberry’s phone department.

 

Blackberry Mercury: price and availability

Currently, the price of this smartphone has not yet been revealed yet. The device is yet to get an official confirmation, though, the release date is probably in Q1, 2017. In spite having announced to stop manufacturing smartphones, Blackberry continues to release new flagships. With the comeback of QWERTY keyboard, will this phone bring a success for Blackberry?
