Science Confirms: First-Born Children Are Smarter Than Their Siblings!!

Recently, Economists at the University of Edinburgh have conducted an interesting study. In details, the research showed that many first-born children tend to score higher on IQ tests. Furthermore, they also tend to have better-thinking skills. As a result, they can now prove that the older siblings tend to be the smartest ones.

On the other hand, we also found out that the oldest child in the family usually shine when it comes to solving matching letters, reading single words out loud. Also, they are better at remembering names and reading tests. There is also a better result when they are given a picture vocabulary test.

What is the reason behind this? First of all, older children usually get more mental stimulation and attention than their siblings. To elaborate more, their parents tend to be enthusiastic about raising their first kid. As a result, they even provide more emotional support for the child in this scenario. On the other hand, the study pointed out that having more children can change the behavior of their parents. With more kids, they tend to spend less time with them, resulting in less focus in comparison to the first child. Statistics were taken from the U.S. Department of Labour. Edinburgh University School of Economics researcher Dr. Ana Nuevo-Chiquero also stated: “Our results suggest that broad shifts in parental behavior are a plausible explanation for the observed birth order differences in education and labor market outcomes.”

Conclusion

Although they may have the brains, the oldest children can also face the pressure to go further in life. So for now, let us be a bit happy and brag about it to our younger sibling today!
