Galaxy S8 drop test: A very fragile phone!

Samsung Galaxy S8 is an amazing smartphone. Galaxy S8 specs are what almost every phone wants to have. Not only that, its design is also gorgeous. However, with that beauty, there are some compromises. This time, it is about the S8’s durability. Recently, JerryRigEverything YouTube channel has conducted a scratch test for the new Samsung flagship. Now, another YouTube channel, SquareTrade, has performed another durability test for the Galaxy S8, which is the Galaxy S8 drop test!

For this test, SquareTrade dropped both the new Galaxy models – S8 and S8+ – from the height of 6 feet, on both the front and the back of the phones. The result was that both models have cracks on the front and back on their first drops only. Compared to the previous Galaxy flagships, the S7 also cracked on the first fall, while the S7 Edge was more durable, lasting two rounds. However, the S8 duo is the first phone during this test to crack both sides during the first drop!

The channel also conducted another test, this time the Galaxy S8’s ability to resist water. The phone was left 5 feet underwater for 30 minutes, the advertised duration of resistance. It was found out that after that period, the sound mus muffled and distorted. This is not a good sign for the phone, especially after showcasing a lot bout its IP68 certification. It was unclear whether the audio problem was temporary or permanent.

Galaxy S8 durability: You need to be careful while using it!

With this result, we can clearly see that the S8 duo really need a protective case. However, you may not need to put screen protection, as its screen is quite durable against scratch.
