Google Pixel XL2 to be made by LG: 4GB RAM, SnD 835, Android 8

Google introduced its newest smartphones last year, the Google Pixel and Pixel XL, in collaboration with HTC. However, the next phone, Google Pixel XL2, is going to have a new manufacturer, with specs like 4GB RAM, SND 835, Android 8!

Last year, Google launched two new flagships, the Google Pixel and Pixel XL. They cooperated with HTC to manufacture the phones. We have thought that to be the case for the new Google smartphones this year as well. However, only half of that is true. HTC still makes the next Google Pixel, but its bigger sibling, the Google Pixel XL2 is going to be a product of LG. This piece of information came out only recently, due to a bug report on the Android Issue Tracker.

Specifically, there seems to be a bug about the USB Power Delivery, indicated by an LG employee. Then, a Google personnel replied by asking that the bug report is closed, and then moved to Android > Partner > External > LGE > Taimen > Power. Taimen is the code for a smartphone that Google is developing, alongside another one Walleye. Between the two, Taimen is the bigger phone. These two we believe are the new Google Pixel and Google Pixel XL2. It is an unusual situation, as this is the first time that two manufacturers make the same line of phones for Google!

So, with two manufacturers, we cannot say for sure if the two phones (Google Pixel and Google Pixel XL2) are having the same design. The duo from 2016 is the same carbon copy of each other regarding specs and features, with the only difference being the size. So far, we know some Google Pixel XL2 specs, and it has the latest SND 835 processor alongside 4GB RAM. The phone is going to have Android 8 right off the bat.

Google Pixel XL2: A good phone is coming!

For now, Google Pixel XL2 release date is still unknown. Hopefully, Google, LG or HTC makes an announcement soon, and also tells us Google Pixel XL2 price. What do you think of the phone?
