Only a few days left until the long-awaited World Cup 2018 season begins. In light of this event, Google has released some new features to help users track all the action during this period. Keep reading for more!

Google’s new World Cup 2018 features

It’s been four years since Germany won over Argentina and that can only mean one thing: it’s World Cup time once again. Starting later this week, 32 national teams will compete over the most coveted trophy in all of international soccer. And Google will be there to help us keep track of all the goals and drama in real time. To do that, Google Search has rolled out new features targeted towards football fans around the world; with a “new immersive experience” that includes group tables, statistics and trending players at the moment.

Furthermore, the company said Google Search will show video recaps from selective broadcasters featuring goals; as well as highlights of major match moments at the end of each game for 30 minutes. Another cool feature in Google Search for the World Cup is a score pin that will update automatically and stick around even if you’re browsing other apps. The pin option will show up on Android devices via “mobile browsers” and the main Google app. On top of that, Google News Android app will release a World Cup Tracker.

This will feature a wheel chart which gathers all the scores, highlights, and fixtures. It will also feature YouTube video highlights of matches and only be available in the US, UK, France, Germany, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Peru, and Colombia. If you’re not a visual person, then simply have a chat with Google Assistant. As well as the expected score and fixture updates, Not only Assistant will be able to regale users with interesting World Cup facts during the tournament, it also speculates the expected score and fixture updates.

Finally, Google Trends and Google Maps are also going World Cup crazy, with the former showing interactive charts and stats based on live search data; and the latter highlighting the best places to watch sports in your local area.
