IFA 2018 recap: New Sony Xperia XZ3, HTC U12 Life and more fantastic news!

The IFA 2018 event just took place last week in Berlin with many surprising announcements. So far, here is all the exciting news from this event, including many great smartphones’ introduction. Check it out!

Sony Xperia XZ3

1. Sony:

As the tradition, the Japanese manufacturer unveiled their next flagship device at the IFA 2018 event – Xperia XZ3. Notably, the Sony phone comes with a curved OLED screen like no other Xperia phone. Moreover, it is also the first Sony handset to sport a QHD+ display as well. Under its hood, the upcoming phone gets power from the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset.

As for the storage, the Sony mobile offers a 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, expandable up to 512GB via microSD. 2. Huawei:

For the IFA, Huawei took the chance to officially introduce the Mate 20 Lite device. In details, Huawei Mate 20 Lite specs sport a 6.3-inch Full-HD+ display with 2340 x 1080 pixels. Also, the notched screen comes with 19.5:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, the device takes power from the Kirin 710 chipset, which was the brand’s first 12nm chipset with a significant improvement in power consumption and performance. The chipset is built on TSMC’s 7nm node and is the first to support LPDDR4X RAM and the first to have dual NPU co-processor. The impressive spces sheet continues with dual ISPs, Cortex-A76 CPU cores, a Mali-G76 GPU and a Cat.21 modem, capable of up to 1.4Gbps download speeds over 4G LTE.

3. Honor:

Huawei’s sub-brand Honor also joined the IFA 2018 with the teasing of the successor to the Honor Magic that we saw two years ago. According to the teaser, the new Honor Magic specs include a slide-out cameras system, fast 40W Magic Charge and nearly bezel-less display. For now, all we know is that this Honor phone is going to hit the market this December.

4. HTC:

The Taiwanese brand finally unveiled their latest addition to the HTC U series – the affordable HTC U12 Life. Moreover, the HTC U12 Life comes with a great catch: a unique back panel design. Notably, the back of this HTC device features two distinct textures. The first part is a smooth acrylic glass with horizontal lines etched into the glass. Meanwhile, the other part looks quite similar to the surface of Google Pixel devices. On the other hand, HTC U12 Life specs sport a 6-inch 18:9 screen, the same size as the U12 Plus screen. Moreover, the screen has the resolution of 1,080 x 2,160px and is reportedly notch-less. Furthermore, the HTC device equips a non-removable 3600mAh battery box, but no fast charging. 5. LG:

One of the most popular Korean smartphone brands – LG – brought some surprises for their fans this time. In details, LG has introduced two unexpected members of the G7 series – the G7 One and G7 Fit. Notably, these smartphones look pretty similar to the original LG G7 ThinQ from the front. In details, the Korean manufacturer introduced a total of two new handsets: LG G7 One and G7 Fit.
