LG is actually a direct rival to Samsung, both companies are Korean based beasts that always challenge each other. The most important story here is that LG has announced that it wanna make sure that the V20 successor (LG V30) gets the curved OLED displays. Samsung is actually the biggest supplier of the OLED display screens, so this means that LG will have to negotiate with its rival if it really wants the best display. Many phone makers including Apple are are actually willing to get the OLED technology.

OLED or AMOLED actually supply high contrast between black and white, and lower power consumption, instead of LCD screens.
