Good news for Nokia owners today! After many predictions, HDM Global has confirmed that the Android 8.0 Oreo is coming to Nokia 3. This handset won’t be needing the upgrade to 7.1.2 Android after all! 

The next Nokia handset receives Android 8.0: Nokia 3

Firstly, one of the strong points of Nokia is their timely upgrade. Previously, Nokia has announced the list of their smartphones that are getting the Android 8.0 this December. So far, we already have Nokia 8, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6. This week, Nokia has confirmed that the next handset which receives this new Operating system is the Nokia 3. Before the confirmation, many fans were waiting for the Android 7.1.2 on Nokia 7. However, HMD Global’s Chief Product Offer – Juho Sarvikas revealed in a tweet that Nokia 3 would skip Android 7 to have Android 8.0 Oreo.

According to many sources, Nokia 3 users have to sign up to become a beta tester. After registering, their Nokia handset is going to receive the Android 8.0 Oreo software upgrade notification within 12 hours. The update is now starting out over-the-air. For all Nokia Android users, the new upgrade means the addition of various features. To name a few, we have features like picture-in-picture, notification dots. Moreover, there is also the Google Play Protect security scans, autofill passwords, and faster boot up. Additionally, the new update also means upgrading the Android security patch to the latest October build.

Notably, Nokia Android users should remember to back-up their handset before starting the Android 8.0 Oreo beta upgrade process. On the other hand, Nokia users also have the option to change back to Android Nougat if the Oreo beta becomes buggy. On a different note, a new report claims that Android 7.1.2 Nougat update has begun rolling out to Nokia 6 smartphones in India. According to NokiaPoweruser, the Android 7.1.2 Nougat update for the Nokia 6 weighs around 642MB in size and also includes October security patch.
