OPPO R15S beast: under-display fingerprint scanner, 6GB RAM!

Besides the Selfie Expert OPPO F7, the Chinese manufacturer has been preparing for the launch of the R11 series’s successor. Notably, they have confirmed the launch of two new handsets: OPPO R15 and R15 Pro this April. Additionally, there seems to be one more new member of the R15 family that have yet made it debut: OPPO R15S. According to our source, OPPO is now adding more new technology to this upcoming R15 phone.

Today, the media has reported that OPPO finally received a patent for the under-display fingerprint scanner technology from the State Intellectual Property Office of China (SIPO). Moreover, the document also reveals that the scanner is going to support not only for unlocking the device but also for authorising payments on OPPO R15S. On the other hand, the patent images also show us the sequence of entering our fingerprint.

Notably, OPPO patent is quite different from the Synaptics ones, with the visibility when the screen is on. Now, let’s take a look at what the R15S can offer. Firstly, OPPO R15S specs sport a 6.28-inch AMOLED screen (1080 x 2280 pixels resolution). Under the hood, this OPPO flagship takes power from a Qualcomm SDM660 Snapdragon 660 chipset. Moreover, the OPPO phone also includes 6GB RAM and 128GB ROM, which is expandable up to 256GB. How about the photography system? OPPO R15S camera equips a dual 16 MP (f/1.7, 1/2.6″, 1.22 µm, PDAF) + 20 MP (f/1.7, 1/2.8″, 1 µm) primary lenses. Additionally, this OPPO phone also comes with a 24MP selfie camera.
