Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 first exposure: Kyro autonomous architecture?

Recently, there has been a leaked photo that contains the information for the specification of Qualcomm Snapdragon 660, the latest processor from Qualcomm. Let’s take a look at the chipset made for mid-range phones.

Qualcomm recently announced the Snapdragon 653, Snapdragon 626, Snapdragon 427, which are their three new low-end processors. Recently, Qualcomm also identified the next generation flagship chipset Snapdragon 835. According to latest breaking news, another very  new Qualcomm midrange mainstream processor will be the new Snapdragon 660. Snapdragon 660 numbered MSM8976 Plus (Snapdragon 652 ~ MSM8976, Snapdragon 653 ~ MSM8976 Pro), appeared to have a little change, but in fact it has a comprehensive and essential upgrade.

Like Snapdragon 652/653, Snapdragon 660 seems to have TSMC 28nm eight cores. The Kyro autonomous architecture will most likely appears in Snapdragon 600 series for the first time. Similar to Huawei Kirin 960, there will be a combination of A73 and A53 with Samsung finFET LPP including 4 cores 2.2GHz and 4 cores 1.9GHz. This is a significant update of Snapdragon 620 chipset due to the new Adreno 512 GPU.

In addition, this mid-range 8-core chipset also supports 2 RAM flows, which are LPDDR4X-1866 and UFS 2.1 memory. It will also boast 24MP, dual cameras (Heagon II DSP), and LTE Cat.10 carrier aggregation, which has a theoretical download speed of 450Mbps. Besides those specs, Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 is predicted to have saving energy technology and integrated fast charging innovation.

Along with Snapdragon 835, Snapdragon 660 will be the second quarter of 2017 in large scale production to be used in OPPO and Vivo’s mid-range handsets that have been identified and will be released in the next year summer.
