Qualcomm is upgrading its chipset for the smartphone market annually. After the successor Qualcomm Snapdragon 845, Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 is the next generation of Qualcomm. Recently, the new octa-core Qualcomm appears on Geekbench under the name of QUALCOMM smile for arm64. Additionally, the new Qualcomm’s chip still cannot work on the Apple’s, though the score of Snapdragon 855 is 3,697 close to 4,300 for the A11.

On the other hand, it mates with Adreno 630 and supports Quick Charge 4+. Also, other features of the new platform include Fingerprint, Iris, Voice, Face. Moreover, the Snapdragon 855 chip can pair with 6GB of RAM and run on Android 9 Pie. Furthermore, on the Geekbench listing, it has a single-core score of 3,697 and multi-core score 10,469. Under the hood, Qualcomm can be looking at TSMC’s 7 nm process to build the Snapdragon 855 like the Huawei Kirin 980 chipset.

Overall, Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 will bring next-gen internet technology coming with 5G connectivity. Besides, the Snapdragon 855 is going to launch with a dedicated Neural Processing Unit (NPU). In contrast, there is a rumour that the Snapdragon 855 can change the name into Snapdragon 865 to avoid confusion with the Snapdragon 850 – a CPU for laptops and tablets running Microsoft Windows OS.
