Samsung Gear S4 to possibly come with Android Wear OS

Perhaps the most important leak we’ve gathered so far is a source within Samsung who claims the company is preparing the Gear S4 right now. However, a new trademark application suggests Samsung may intend to release its next smartwatch under the new name Samsung Galaxy Watch, so the Gear name may be dead after all. Also, rumors for the Samsung Gear S4 are now starting to pile up ever since we heard the word the watch is in development. One of them is the smartwatch is going to run on Android Wear operating system.

The other source has said Samsung wants to offer the upcoming watch in two different sizes. If one of these rumors turn out to be true, this would be something of a precedent in Samsung’s history with wearables – which have traditionally been based on Tizen OS. Going by logic, and given the huge popularity that Samsung’s smart-wear have been enjoying over the years; it seems unlikely that the company will turn its back on Tizen and adopt Android Wear OS entirely. However, according to Ice Universe, he claims that Samsung and Google are working on a new “Android Wear flagship watch”.

When the next Gear smartwatch launches, it will probably cost a lot. Previously, the Gear S3 started at $349 and we’ll likely see a similar price for the new model Samsung Gear S4. Especially as it will be the rival of the Apple Watch 3.
