Samsung slumped. Huawei, Xiaomi climbed in 2014 global smartphone sales.

2014 is an impressive year of Chinese-based smartphone vendors. Chinese brands represent six of top ten world’s largest company. Samsung is still on the Number One, next to Apple and Lenovo.

In 2014, the smartphone world experienced an increase of 25%in overall shipments, from 927,2 to 1166,9 units compared to 2013. Howerver, there’s a little change in the top three smartphone makers. Therein, Samsung still leaked the pack of 2014, but went through near 5% decrease, from 32.5% to 28% while competitors, like Apple, maintain or gain ground.

According to TrendForce’s prediction, top three leaders will still be Samsung, Apple and Lenovo but their market share percentage will have a slight fall of 1.4% by this time next year (2015) compared to 2014.

Apple shows their appeal when still retained second place years-over-years, which sits more firmly with just 0.2% lost year, thanks to new succesful flagships – the Apple iPhone 6 and the Apple iPhone 6 Plus.

The number three, Lenovo with total shipments in 2014 exceeded 90 million units and its annual growth exceled 100%. This company ranked first place among Chinese smartphone vendors and third worldwide with its 7.9% global market share. This result of Lenovo due to its acquisition of Motorola from Google in the fourth quarter of 2014.
Huawei Honor 6 introduced the Honor 6 model line in 2014, therefore wholly changed its strategy of utilizing smartphone chips from Qualcomm and MediaTek for its high-end devices. Huawei approximately shipped 70 million units and has 70% annual growth, makes this company rank number five in the 2014.

Followed by Huawei is amazing Xiaomi which are known with the best cost-performance products. Almost Xiaomi phones are inexpensive devices and needless to say Xiaomi handsets are really impressive and attractive. According to TrendForce, Xiaomi will be positioned higher in 2015 as well.

In the 2015, Samsung, Apple and Lenovo are predicted to hold onto their positions. But Chinese brands like Xiaomi and Huawei will overclass LG and move closer to Lenovo.
