Shadow Warrior 2: Over-the-top, and quite a few changes from the first one

Following the first game’s released in 2013, Flying Wild Hog – the developer – has released Shadow Warrior 2 recently. It still follows the same gameplay system of the first game, which is first person hack-and-slash. You will still follow the steps of Lo Wang, the previous game’s main character, to exterminate everything stopping you. However, there are some notable changes this time around, making it a somewhat different experience to the predecessor.

The first one is pacing. This game is much, much faster. The pacing of the battles is extremely fast, and enemies will keep coming at you. You will literally be hacking your way through these battles. It will surely get your adrenaline pumping if you love some good old hack-and-slash action. However, with the fast pace of the game, the plot of the story is cut short this time around. Shadow Warrior in 2013 surprised many with a decent story for he genre. This time, the story is much shorter. The focus is surely on other aspects of the game.

The graphics is an immense upgrade from the first game as well. Everything looks gorgeous, and more violent in battles. Adding to that is the combat system, which follows the same formula as the first game, with minor changes. There are more equipments now, creating many styles of combat. If you are tired of slashing through enemies, you can now gun your way through them! However, with the loot rates, item management can be a bit of a pain, but it is manageable. One significantly improved aspect is the online co-op mode. It is fun when you can hack through hordes of enemies with friends!

Shadow Warrior 2: Ridiculous, but a fun game

Overall, there has been improvements over the first game, except for the story. Shadow Warrior may seem over-the-top for many, but it is actually a really fun game to play. So, if you plan to play this, get ready for some Lo Wang’s action!
