It’s the patent war all over again. But it involves more than two giant tech companies now. This time, Nokia seek help from Samsung to fight against Apple in court.

Nokia seek help from Samsung to fight Apple in court

Nokia has sued Apple in Germany and the US for infringement of a number of its patents. Apple has already been a Nokia Patents licensee since 2011. But this patent licensing agreement ended on December 31 2016. Under terms of this agreement, Apple paid one time huge sum and was committed to pay ongoing royalties to Nokia. However, Apple has declined to continue paying. Since Apple Products still infringe Nokia patents, Nokia has decided to take Apple to court.

Now, Nokia seek help from Samsung to fight against Apple. Here is the Nokia’s formal request to the Court. “Petitioner Nokia Technologies Oy (“Nokia”), the Complainant in Certain Electronic Devices, Including Mobile Phones, Tablet Computers, and Components Thereof, Inv. No. 337- TA-1038 (“the Investigation”) before the U.S. International Trade Commission (“ITC”), hereby moves the Court to issue, under its seal and signature, the attached Letter of Request to the Central Authority of the Republic of Korea. The Letter seeks documents and deposition testimony from Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., based in the Republic of Korea. The evidence sought by Nokia is highly relevant to the Investigation and unobtainable by other means…

For these reasons, as explained in more detail in the accompanying memorandum, Nokia respectfully requests that the Court assign a Judge to this matter and issue the attached Letter of Request as soon as the Court deems appropriate.”

Nokia seek help from Samsung: Will Samsung reply?

Apple and Samsung have been fighting one another forever. They have filled many IPR infringement cases against each other. This should be a good opportunity for Samsung to make some damage to the US tech giant. But only time can tell what will happen next.

You’ve heard many stories about it. Now prepare to meet the next Apple flagship, the iPhone X. This new iPhone is all about Augmented Reality.

iPhone X Concept: Augmented Reality Flagship

iPhone X: Augmented Reality Flagship

Apple seems to be quiet for the last few days. Now their products are back full force with a new concept for the iPhone X. Based on past rumors of Apple working on AR smatphone, designer Gabor Balogh has envisioned the iPhone X. This is an Apple mobile flagship concept that focuses on augmented reality features. The phone somewhat reminds us of the Galaxy S7 Edge. The curved OLED panel upfront is certainly a great addition to the phone. It has an edge to edge display, with not one but several digital buttons below the actual screen.

Beside the Home button, there are 4 contextual buttons, two on each side of the Home button. The contextual buttons aren’t fixed. They can appear in a format of 2, 4 or however many you need. iPhone X will focus more on augmented reality (AR) and Apple’s virtual assistant (Siri). Siri is now able to recognize objects and direct you using AR features. Now the camera is also able to recognize people’s emotions, heart rate and body temperature, as well as breaths per minute.

iPhone X Concept: Augmented Reality Flagship

The device will likely share the same 4.7″ screen size with the current iPhone 7. Other premium features would come with the new iPhone too. Things like fingerprint scanner, Apple Pay, water and dust resistant, new chipset and new OS is a must for Apple flagship.

iPhone 8 Edge concept is mesmerizing!

Concept Creator is responsible for many beautiful concepts of possible smartphones that is not released to the market yet. Recently, there is a concept of a new iPhone in anticipation for the new Apple device coming out this year. It is called the iPhone 8 Edge, and from the concept it looks beautiful! Two notable features of this concept phone is the curved OLED screen and wireless charging capability. It would be great if the new iPhone could have these 2 features!

The creator also made an alternative name for the phone, calling it the iPhone 8E. It comes in quite a beautiful red color. Other than red, there are also 2 more colors: pink and beige. We don’t know yet if this device would be the iPhone 8 or iPhone 8 Plus, or an entirely different phone. Such sleek design and OLED curved screen could have been done by Apple previously, but the company decided to wait until a more viable supply would turn up. You can see the phone concept in more details here.

For iPhone 8 Edge specs, it would have dual back camera right from the start, and an enhanced set of sensors while we are at it as well. The phone would also get a new Apple A10 10nm chipset, along with 3GB of RAM for enhanced performance. This phone would be a beast in terms of performance! There will be wireless charging as well. The phone body would be made of metal, and like we mentioned, will have a curved OLED screen, similar to the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, Galaxy Note 7 or Galaxy S8.

This concept is truly beautiful and interesting. If Apple manage to bring some of these features in, the new iPhone would be a big hit. Are you excited for the new iPhone this year?

Red iPhone 8: Dual cameras, Bezel less design

Concept Creator is back at it again. This time it’s a new design for the Red iPhone 8. However, it still in teaser phase and not finished yet. The phone has a beautiful red color with a nice metallic gloss on top. The curve edges look great and smoother than on the current iPhone 7. The general design feels similar to what we saw on the previous iPhones. But this time, the dual camera is flatter, the device is slimmer and seems to be a bit longer. It seems that there is no physical home button on the device.

As for the Red iPhone 8 specs, many sources claimed that it will have a 4.7″ 750 x 1334 pixels display with ion-strengthened glass and oleophobic coating. The phone is powered by an Apple A11 quad-core, 3GB RAM and 32/128/256GB ROM. The phone is mounted with dual 12MP f/1.8 cameras on the back with autofocus, OIS and quad-LED flash, capable of taking 2160p@30fps videos. The front camera is 7MP f/2.2, capable of taking 1080p video.

Other features include a non-removable battery of unknown capacity and fast battery charging technology. The phone is reported to use Lightning port instead of USB Type-C. And it seems like Apple has actually given up on the headphone jack too.

Red iPhone 8: What do you think?

Keep in mind that this is not the final product so things may change a lot when it is released. And also check out the recent leak about iPhone Edition to know more about Apple’s products. And like always, let us know your opinion about the Red iPhone 8? Does it looks better than the current iPhone? Will you buy one?

iPhone Edition: The next iPhone to come

Three new iPhones are expected to come this year, including 7s, 7s Plus and a more premium model. This new model will be called iPhone Edition with lots of new features.

iPhone Edition: The next iPhone to come

iPhone Edition: The next iPhone to come

According to Apple’s tradition, iPhone 7s and 7s Plus will surely be announced this year. However, most sources have stated that a third iPhone will come along. Back then, most believe that it would be called iPhone 8. However, a recent leak from a Japanese site Mac Otakara said it would be called iPhone Edition. It will likely be a more premium smartphone and target high-end consumers. That would make sense, as it would fit with the premium Apple Watch Edition.

While we now have a better idea of the new iPhone’s name, its specs and features remain a mystery. According to that site, most of the rumors we’ve heard are true, such as AMOLED screens, curved screens, the removal of the home button and a glass back. They also said that everything is still being tested and Apple apparently hasn’t decided which to use yet. In fact, Apple did request parts fitting the rumors, but that doesn’t mean they’ll enter mass production.

iPhone Edition: The next iPhone to come

So far, we’ve only known that iPhone Edition will use a 5-inch range display. The phone will also come with dual camera setup, wireless charging and Lightning connector. We are still not sure if these rumors are true or not, but Mac Otakara has always been a reliable source when it comes to Apple products.

iPhone Edition: Release date

That site also claimed that the iPhone Edition will be announced alongside the iPhone 7s and 7s Plus in September. But iPhone Edition won’t go on sale at the same time with those two other models. The specific date and price was also not mentioned.

Apple is relaunching 32GB iPhone 6 Gold in some markets

Apple is still pretty much on top in the smartphone market. However, the company is struggling for shares in the biggest market in the world, China. Recently, it has decided to relaunch the 32GB iPhone 6 Gold there.

32gb iphone 6

Apple is relaunching 32GB iPhone 6 Gold in some markets

It is quite clear that Apple still looks forward to advancing in China, the biggest market in the world. Apple shares is struggling in China due to fierce competitions, especially from big local brands such as Xiaomi, Oppo, Huawei. However, Apple is still determined to stay on the playing field. One of the strategy Apple had used  is to released upgraded version of old iPhone models, and it seems this time they are going to do it again with the iPhone 6!

There will only be one model to be relaunched this time, the iPhone 6 Gold version. However, it will come with the upgraded 32GB of ROM, which were not included between iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s models. The 32GB version only came back with iPhone 7. Previously, when the iPhone 6 was launched, there were only options of 16, 64 or 128GB of internal storage. Many people have criticized the 16GB version, since the storage is very small, and we know that iPhone storage can’t be extended. It seems that with this 32GB iPhone 6, it hits just the right spot for customers.

32gb iphone 6

This may looks like a weird move, but Apple actually has done it before. Apple relaunched a 8GB iPhone 4 in India before, in an effort to build more market shares over there. The same iPhone 4 model was also later released to other markets as well. It is more than likely that this move with the 32GB iPhone 6 Gold in China will also serve the same purpose. According to 9to5Mac, Apple won’t sell the device in stores, but through carrier partners like Taiwan Mobile. It has actually been available already, but people have not seemed to notice.

32GB iPhone 6: Will this strategy work?

Apple is doing everything it can to get market shares in China. The 32GB iPhone 6 is just one strategy for them. Do you think this will work in Apple’s favor?

World's First In-display Fingerprint Sensor Announced

World’s First In-display Fingerprint Sensor Announced

As you might know, the fingerprint recognition is the fastest way to unlock your smartphone and also the most reliable among biometric methods. So far, the fingerprint scanners are either located on the front in the home buttons (Samsung and Apple) or at the side such as Sony, or at the back as in LG and HTC phones. However, due to the growing trend of bigger displays which occupy a much larger proportion of the front side, there is no more space for the home button.

Now, the Chinese tech company and leading provider of fingerprint authentication solutions, Goodix, has unveiled its new in-display fingerprint sensor at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017 in Barcelona (Spain). It is the first fingerprint sensor integrated into an AMOLED display of a mobile device. If the user wants to unlock his smartphone, he only has to place his finger on the display under which the new component is hidden. Is this groundbreaking invention the future of smartphones?

World's First In-display Fingerprint Sensor Announced

Through Goodix’ Invisible Fingerprint Sensor (IFS™) manufacturers of mobile devices don’t need to install a separate button the fingerprint scanner anymore. Moreover, they are now able to be more creative and flexible in designing elegant and sleek smartphone. IFS ™ also supports thick glass displays and improves resistance to water and dust.

First Phone with In-display Fingerprint Sensor?

According to rumors, iPhone is planning to add an in-display fingerprint sensor to its upcoming iPhone 8. Also, Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 is going to sport this feature. Will it really happen? We are very excited about it! Let’s wait and see…

iPhone 8 will have L shape high capacity battery

iPhone 8 is said to come with an L shape high capacity battery. The phone will have a longer battery life than iPhone 7 Plus and is expected to drive huge sales.

iPhone 8 will have L shape high capacity battery

iPhone 8: L shape high capacity battery

According to the market research firm Morgan Stanley, Apple iPhone 8 will use high battery capacity as its unique selling point. This will drive more sales for the device as Apple is expecting China users to upgrade their devices when the phone launch. Research data has proven that bigger battery is the most requested feature on iPhone since old models. As a result, Apple is going to please its fans this year with a 2700mAh battery for the iPhone 8. For comparison purpose, iPhone 7 uses a 1960mAh battery while iPhone 7 Plus battery is 2900mAh.

With a smaller screen (4.7″) than the 7 Plus (5.5″), iPhone 8 will likely have longer battery life than its predecessor. In order to squeeze a battery that big into such a small device, Apple have redesign the battery, making it an L shape. Other than the new battery design, Apple will also use an OLED screen for more-power efficiency. Add that to improvements in software and more efficient chipsets, the smaller iPhone 8 should have battery life even better than the much bigger iPhone 7 Plus.

iPhone 8 will have L shape high capacity battery

Besides high capacity battery, iPhone 8 will also come with a new and better version of Siri. Right now, Siri is quite lacking compared to other virtual assistants like Cortana and Google Now. So let’s hope Apple has finally figured something out to improve Siri.

iPhone 8: Recap

For now, everything we know about the new iPhone is still limited but more details are coming out every now and then. So here are all the specs we’ve gathered from the rumors: iPhone 8 will use a 4.7″ 750 x 1334 display, with Apple A11 quad-core CPU, 3GB RAM and 32/128/256GB ROM. The phone will have IP67 certification and run on iOS 11. That’s all for now. If you want to know more in the future, make sure to stay tuned and check out the website everyday!
