If you remember, BlackBerry has launched the BlackBerry Priv in November 2015. It is the first Android smartphone from the Canada brand. Now, the recent reports pointed that BlackBerry is working on three new Android phones: Neon, Argon, and Mercury. It seems that the company finally kicked the BlackBerry OS out of their phones. That also means Android platform might be the BlackBerry’s future.

Let’s talk about the first members: BlackBerry Neon (or Hamburg). We introduced this phone in the previous article and it is called BlacBerry DTEK50. BlackBerry DTEK50 review: best and worst things we need to know

Introduced earlier in August, Blackberry DTEK50 caught public attention since it was claimed as the most secure Android smartphone ever made

BlackBerry DTEK50 review

BlackBerry DTEK50 review: weak and strong points

BlackBerry is no doubt one of the most prestigious smartphone producers in the world. They are popular for their high-quality smartphones as well as a premium security system. After a while of absence, their lastest come back with the Android-powered BlackBerry DTEK50 has been gaining quite a lot of attention. Let’s see what this brand new 3GB RAM beast has to be claimed the most secure Android smartphone ever made.

The concern for ultimate security on our mobile devices have never been more common than now. And by playing a wise card, the Canadian company is controlling the game by implementing the idea that, their mobile does live up to the reputation of keeping your personal privacy to the safest possible. That being said, such protection of security is the first advantage you can have when buying this model. The second good thing you can enjoy about BlackBerry DTEK50 review is that, the phone features a very nice combination of specs for a pretty affordable price: 3GB RAM, octa core, 13MP and 2610 mAH battery for roughly a USD 300 price tag.

BlackBerry DTEK50 review

However, along with the advantages we enjoy, there are 2 things we would love to see some improvements from the company. The first shortcoming BlackBerry DTEK50 is facing is its copy-cat design. Probably the Canadian company didn’t really focus on giving it a premium and unique look. Actually, the firm has confirmed they used the reference from TCL manufacturer, explaining why many people have been saying BlackBerry DTEK50 looks just like Alcatel Idol 4. The second drawback is that, the smartphone, despite its outstanding security, is definitely lacking appeals. Besides the basic smartphone features, there is not much to talk about.

BlackBerry DTEK50 review: a very decent mobile

Like most things, BlackBerry DTEK50 sure has its own weak and strong points. However, we would love to appreciate the effort of the Canadian company this time, after a long period of struggling, when their products kept coming at high price and lack of updates from the trends. Would you buy DTEK50 with $300?

“BlackBerry Priv” is BlackBerry Venice’s official name, multiple colors unveiled

BlackBerry Venice is already very famous among us tech geeks. I bet you all know by now that it is BlackBerry’s first Android smartphone ever. I bet you also remember some of the noticeable BlackBerry Venice specs are 3GB RAM, Android 6.0 Marshmallow, 18MP camera and Snapdragon 808 processor. If these are true, then you have definitely not forget the company promised a November launch for this much anticipated smartphone.

The BlackBerry Venice launch is is coming closer. But it seems like we have not known the flagship’s real name through this whole time. Curious? According to Even Blass, you have always been the source for BlackBerry news, just hinted that the BlackBerry Venice official name at release will be BlackBerry Priv.

BlackBerry Priv
BlackBerry Venice real pic leaked

BlackBerry Priv? What does Priv even stand for? Well, there are tons of explanation for it. It can simply be a random choice. Or it can bear a very special meaning to the company. It can also be BlackBerry’s business strategy, to give a curious name and have people talk around it.

Together with the leak about the official BlackBerry Priv name, there are more news coming up. @Pootermobile, a talented designer and Team BlackBerry member has introduced renders of the BlackBerry Slider, or BlackBerry Venice, or BlackBerry Priv with various choices of colors. While we are already so used with the leaking images of the BlackBerry Venice (or Priv) with black cover, these renders provide a fun and bright collection for the device.

BlackBerry Priv

Although up to now, either of the news is finalized yet, they come from pretty much reliable sources. So are looking for more interesting details to show up for the next two months, until the day BlackBerry Venice is officially introduced to our market.

Meanwhile, don’t hesitate to share with us your thoughts about these. Which name do you prefer? BlackBerry Priv or Venice? And are you a fan of elegant black-covered smartphone or one with colorful options?

Blackberry Venice to run Android 6.0 and a November launch

So do you still remember our previous post about the leaking of a new BlackBerry smartphone that runs on Android OS – The Blackberry Venice? Yes, it’s been a while already. But we just got new updates from @evleaks – who has seemed to be the source for all BlackBerry Venice leaks so far. According to a tweet Evan Blass (aka @evleaks) shared recently, it looks like this BlackBerry’s slider is ready to hit the shelves in November – which is 3 months from now.

BlackBerry Venice

BlackBerry Venice

So what does the Venice from BlackBerry look like?

On very first impression, the BlackBerry Venice is expected to feature a large display that can slide up to reveal the iconic physical keyboard from BlackBerry. As we collected from some sources, there is also another possibility that the Venice smartphone will have curved edges like that of a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge.

From the last leaks, we have known that Venice smartphone will be the first BlackBerry device to run on Android OS and we guessed it could be the latest Lollipop version back then. However, since Android 6.0 Marshmallow was set for an upcoming release in the next few weeks, it now seems like the Venice will have this latest OS from Google.

BlackBerry Venice

Together with the new Android OS, the BlackBerry Venice is hoped to pack a combination of flagship features to meet public’s demands. BlackBerry Venice specs possibly include 5.4 inch QHD display, a Snapdragon 808 processor and strong-enough 3GB RAM. If the Venice really goes with curved screen from Samsung, it will also feature AMOLED display.

Tech geeks everywhere have always said that BlackBerry should have featured Android OS long before. So with unique design, BlackBerry signature keyboard and popular Android OS under one device, the Venice is very potential of becoming the next awaited flagship and do BlackBerry great business if the price is right.

BlackBerry Venice: price, release date and availability

As mentioned above, leaked by @evleaks, there said to be a November launch of the Venice. However, this is not finalized and confirmed by the company yet.

For now, we did not know about the Venice price and availability – but hope BlackBerry will have a right strategy this time when the smartphone industry is being more competitive than ever before.

A leaked photo of Blackberry Dallas / Oslo shows that its official name will be Blackberry Passport Silver Edition. This is not very surprising, since Blackberry Dallas design is very similar to Blackberry Passport design anyways.

The most significant difference between Blackberry Passport Silver Edition with the old one is its camera. Blackberry Passport Silver Edition camera is a 13MP one with led flash.

Blackberry Passport Silver Edition will sported a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801, 3G RAM and 3450mAh battery. Additionally, 32GB of internal storage and microSD support are also available.

Blackberry Passport is the original version with a very high price tag.

We do not have any official news for the date it will be released yet, so many things below are leaked and rumoured which needs to be confirmed. In the mean time, you can read more about other Blackberry here, or you can take a look at what’s new from other older, big company like Nokia.

Blackberry Oslo: the return of the Giant with Snapdragon 810, 13MP and signature design?

Several days ago, a gallery of live photos showcasing the unannounced BlackBerry Oslo made it everywhere over the internet. Rumors are indicating that the smartphone is a look-alike of Blackberry’s previous Blackberry Passport. This is the first time we’re getting a look at the actual device, though the Canadia company unveiled few renders earlier back in April.

Blackberry Oslo

BlackBerry Oslo: a replica in design of the company previous Blackberry Passport device?

BlackBerry Oslo features slightly round corners. The device goes with a metal frame and the back is covered by textured rubber. The Blackberry smartphone signature, 3-row QWERTY keyboard will obviously appear in this flagship.

Blackberry Oslo

Blackberry Oslo Specs

In terms of specs, Blackberry Oslo packs a square-ish, 1440 x 1440 pixels display. The device is powered by Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor and 3GB of RAM. It also sports beautiful 13MP rear camera and 3,450 mAH battery.

Blackberry Oslo

Well, at the time when we already have smartphones with powerful 4GB RAM like Asus Zenfone 2 and Xiaomi Mi Note Pro vs huge 4,000mAH battery (or even more) like the Lenovo K80 and Vivo X5 Pro, 3GB RAM and 3,450 mAH don’t sound really appealing. But to be really fair, such combination that Blackberry Olso carries is quite impressive. If nothing changes, by the time Blackberry Olso launch date, it could attract huge attention from consumers thanks to the famous brand names going together with unique design and good specs.

Blackberry Oslo

It’s said that the BlackBerry Oslo should be officially announced later this month, on June 30, and could be released shortly after that in Europe and Asia. And for now, we know no more about whether it will arrive in Philippines or not; as well as the Blackberry Oslo price when released. Hopefully it will offer a soft price tag so that more people can experience this Giant’s return after a long time being silent.

blackberry-rio-710x434

There are some noticeable design differences between the Rio and the Z3. The Rio has an elongated glass panel for the camera. The speaker port is also larger on the Rio than on the Z3. Otherwise, the ornamental design of both devices is quite familiar.

The Rio is the first plan of Blackberry for new year 2015’s launch. While the rest is planning to launch on the first half of 2015, include: Porsche Design P’9983, Passport, Classic.
