The two devices are the result of John Sculley and Robert Brunner, a designer. Although the two phones come from a former Apple CEO, these two are reasonably priced with amazingly good specs. With less than $200 for Obi Worldphone SF1 and SJ1.5, this is a very good deal for users.

Starting at $199, Obi Worldphone SF1 price in Philippines will be around PHP 9.3k. Obi Worldphone SF1 display is a 5” Full HD screen with Corning Gorilla Glass 4. With this screen and design, the phone has a very unique look.

Moreover, Obi Worldphone SF1 hardware specs is amazing and not some cheap materials. The device has 2 or 3GB RAM, 16/32GB internal storage and octa core 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 for power. Among the top chipsets nowadays, Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 and Helio X30 are not on a rivalry with each other. On another article, we wrote about some kind of chipset that uses FinFet technology for Apple iPhone series too. It seems manufacturers are focusing more and more on power for their devices. Recently, the big name from China, Xiaomi, has reported that they will be making a new chipset also. The new chipset will be used on their next device, an affordable handset named Xiaomi Redmi 2A.

Xiaomi is going to expand to the chipset market too?

According to the news, this chipset will have the same power as Qualcomm Snapdragon 401. With the name of Leadcore LC1860C, this chipset will cost with a lower price than its Qualcomm counterpart. Thus, the price for the device sporting it will also be lowered. Therefore, we can expect a very nice Xiaomi Redmi 2A price.

It seems Qualcomm will have a new rival apart from Mediatek.

XIaomi stated that Xiaomi Redmi 2A price will be around 499 yuan, which is around PHP 3.7k. Xiaomi will equip this chipset on their affordable series – Redmi. However, since the Chinese manufacturer is still new in this field, their higher end handset such as Xiaomi Mi5 will still be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon.

Xiaomi Mi5 will be sported with Qualcomm Snapdragon 820.

It seems this is the trend for smart phone manufacturers nowadays to produce their own chipset. Samsung, Apple, and Huawei are the leading names, so their rivals will, of course, compete with them in this field too.

Xiaomi Redmi 2A will be the first smart phone to sport a new kind of chipset.

Xiaomi Redmi 2A release date is August 8, which is very near. Xiaomi Redmi 2A price will be cut down to 499 yuan , around PHP 3.6k upon release. It will sport a Leadcore LC1860C quad core 1.5GHz processor, 1GB RAM, 4.7’’ display, and 2200mAH battery.

2 days ago, on August 3rd, 2015, Philips smartphone celebrated their first anniversary working with Smartphone, an online distributor in Vietnam market. With the occasion, the company launched their latest smartphone featured especially for taking selfie with a budget price: Philips S358

Mr. Eric Benedetti, Chairman of Philips Vietnam announced the company’s business situation and sales reports in the local market for the past year. According to that, Philips is now holding a stable share of around 1-2% in the highly competitive smartphone market of Vietnam.

Android and Windows Phone are two leading operating system other than iOS. Each of them has their own pros and cons that attract users to choose between phones. According to their needs, users look for their suited smart phones, either Android or Windows Phone. If you are looking for a mid range smart phone to buy, then Oppo R1K and Nokia 830 are two candidates. Both are great with good specs and affordable prices.

Design

If we take a look at the two phones, we can see the clear difference that Oppo R1K has curved corners while Lumia 830 does not. The front and back of Oppo R1K has resistant glass, protecting the phone from scratch. Though both have metal frame bordering the body, Lumia 830 is more “square” with its design. Moreover, the back of Lumia 830 does not have another glass cover like Oppo R1K.

Display

The two device sport a 5 inch display with the resolution of HD 720p, IPS panel and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for protection. Actual use proves that both phones give smooth images and sharp view. However, Lumia 830 produces warmer color and better view under sunlight.

Hardware

For power, Oppo R1K is a tad faster with its quad core 1.3GHz processor. Both are equipped with 1GB RAM and 16GB internal storage. However, the Oppo R1K does not support microSD, while Lumia 830 does.

R1K has a 2410mAh battery and Lumia 830 has a 2200mAh. The small difference does not give off anything, but Windows Phone is known for its power and smooth operation.

Camera

Now it is the most amusing part. Oppo R1K has a main 13MP camera with the resolution of  4128 x 3096 pixels and a 5MP front one. The picture quality on this phone is quite high. It can also please Selfie lovers with a lot of enhance effects on the front camera.

The Pureview 10MP camera on Lumia 830 is one amazing thing either. When taking photos, the phone lets you take one photo with flash and one without. Then it offers the slider that lets you change the flash effect on your final product. However, the 1MP front camera seems to be a disappointment if you are crazy about selfie.

Honor 4C is a budget flagship from Huawei with very nice specs and good looking design for the sub PHP 7K price tag. In the time where we can find flagship smartphones everywhere but not all will perform well after a while, we want to give you a closer look in to the devices we think can be good deal for their money. And let’s start with this Honor 4C.

Huawei Honor 4C is available in Philippines for less than 7K

The first impression every user can have from a smartphone is its design. To be very fair, Honor 4C does not look really special compared to others mid-range handsets. It has quite a thick body and looks a bit bulky regards of its real size. However, the Honor 4C feels safe and stable in the hand, which makes it worth considered.

With 5” and 720 IPS display, the Honor 4C screen resolution is quite good for its price range. Real experience shows that the colors displayed on the screen is mild and pretty, which goes well with public demand.

In terms of specs, Honor 4C features octa-core with Kirin 620 processor from Hisilicon – the baby company of Huawei – specialized in producing chip sets for smartphone producers. Although Hisilicon is not as well known as MediaTek that many other budget flagships packs, the processor works quite well under the speed of 1.2GHZ and 64 bit bases.

With dual SIM 3G, 2GB of RAM and 8GB  internal storage (SD card slot supported also), hands-on testing shows that the Honor 4C runs quite smoothly. The device is powered by 2,550mAH. This is far away from 4000 mAH in flagships like Lenovo K80 but is above average for a sub PHP 7k smartphone.

Huawei Honor 4C cameras are pretty nice too. The rear camera features 13MP with Sony BSI CMOS and 88 degree wide lens with 5MP resolution for selfie shooter.
