Just with this detail, we already know that HTC Marlin will be a tough competitor in the smartphone market. HTC Marlin: Android 7 Nougat!

According to the information from Geekbench, the OS of HTC Marlin is coded as Android NMR1, which can be easily inferred to the latest OS of Android: Android 7 Nougat. This is not surprising actually, as the previous OS version of Android were first released in Google products (the Nexus series). However, this time, Marlin is the second one to receive the latest Android OS. The first is LG’s upcoming flagship: V20. Besides the details about the CPU and the OS, there are also hints that the selfie shooter of this Google phone will come with Sony camera sensor. There is nothing new about other specs. Recently, the rumored HTC Desire 10 Pro specs has been leaked on GFX Bench, while HTC Desire 10 Lifestyle specs also appeared on Antutu. HTC is really on a roll here! Let’s take a look at these HTC new smartphones!

HTC new smartphones: HTC Desire 10 Pro & HTC Desire 10 Lifestyle

The first of the 2 HTC new smartphones is HTC Desire 10 Pro. HTC Desire 10 Pro specs are leaked yesterday on GFX Bench. The first notable thing is that it will have Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow installed. That is an interesting choice, considering that Android 7.0 Nougat is already available. However, those specs may change with the release, since this is not HTC’s official words. Also, according to GFX Benchmark, this device will come with a 5.1″ display with Quad HD resolution of 2560 x 1440.

The smartphone’s performance will be driven by Quad-core Snapdragon 820 processor clocked at 2.1Ghz, accompanied by 4GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. The Desire 10 Pro seems to have  12MP rear camera with auto-focus, face detection, and LED flash, with 4K video recording ability. The front camera will be 5MP for selfies and video chat. There’s no mention of battery yet, unfortunately. But based on these specs, we believe the battery capacity would be more or less the same with HTC 10, at 3,000mAh. This is the premium one of HTC new smartphones.

According to Antutu, HTC Desire 10 Lifestyle, one of HTC new smartphones, is supposedly a budget version of the released HTC 10. So naturally, HTC Desire 10 Lifestyle specs will be lower than HTC 10, and HTC Desire 10 Pro. Same as Desire 10 Pro, this device will have Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow installed. Desire 10 Lifestyle will have 720p (HD) display, no size was mentioned. Under the hood, there will be quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor, accompanied by 2GB RAM. This may disappoint quite a few people. There will be a 13MP/5MP back and front camera combo. There will be fingerprint sensor at the back, and all physical keys will be on the right side. Three capacity buttons are located below the display.

HTC new smartphones: Price range

Same as specs, the price for these two new devices are only speculated. There’s nothing on the HTC Desire 10 Pro price yet. However, we suspect it will be around the same price of HTC 10 based on the specs, which is $699. On the other hand, HTC Desire 10 Lifestyle price is rumored to be less than $200. If its specs are true, we believe that would be a reasonable price. But remember, everything is just speculation at this point. We need to have HTC’s official announcement. HTC 10 review: A high-end experience!

First of all, in this HTC 10 review, let’s talk about the design. Different from the promoted photos, HTC 10 in real life looks very premium! The line around the back edge of the phone is bigger than in the predecessors, which makes the phone not easy to slip from your hand and look much cooler. However, as an HTC fan, I expect the flagship will come with more changes in the design.

The second thing to talk about in this HTC 10 review is its battery. Though it packs a humble 3000mAh battery, this phone actually stays longer than expected. I once unplugged the phone at 8 am when it had been fully charged. Then I went out the whole day using 3GB and GPS continuously but the battery still remained 20% when I arrived home at 8 pm. So this time, with HTC 10, the capacity really doesn’t count!

Now let’s move on to the display. HTC is always well known for producing excellent display. And this time, HTC 10 is a great example of that tradition! The color on the display is very vibrant, truthful. The color transformation and the details are very smooth and natural looking. That’s thanks to the S-LCD 5 with 2k resolution. Another improvement of this phone is that the navigating buttons have been transformed into physical buttons (in HTC 8 and HTC 9 those buttons are placed within the display), so now the entire 5.2-inch is only for content!

HTC 10 review: The camera

Last but not least in this HTC 10 review, let’s talk about the camera. The 12MP snapper on the back of this phone reproduces truthful colors and detailed edges. The phase detection autofocus of Galaxy S7 Edge, this phone is not really outstanding in focusing speed. Besides, the interface of the camera app is quite complicated to use. However, I’m impressed by its performance in low-light environment. The photos taken in the dark has very little noise. I personally prefer a dark, noiseless photo than a brighter but full of noise photo!
