HTC 10 Evo review: High-end specs, Small battery

HTC 10 Evo is a high quality flagship with great specs. However, it has received a lot of negative feedbacks since released. Let’s find out why!

HTC 10 Evo review

HTC 10 Evo: Performance and Camera

HTC is still struggling with its mobile device department. The company has been losing market share to other brands like Samsung, Huawei and Apple for the last few years. And HTC 10 Evo is proof of the company downfall. The phone price tag is around $700 ~ Rs. 46899, which is a little high considering HTC recent reputation. In terms of HTC 10 Evo specs, it features a Snapdragon 810 octa-core (4 x 1.5GHz + 4 x 2.0GHz), 3GB RAM and 32GB ROM (expandable up to 256GB via a dedicated slot).

The specs look great on paper, right? In reality, the Snapdragon 810 is inefficient, it gets hot quickly and drains lots of battery. The phone uses a 3200mAh battery, quick is not much considering the chipset and the 5.5” QHD display (the high resolution display is a plus for the phone). And why is 32GB the only storage option? Does HTC not realize that the system files alone take up more than 8GB?

HTC 10 Evo review

Apart from the negativity, we have to praise HTC 10 Evo for its camera setup. The device is mounted with a 16MP f/2.0 OIS-enabled shooter on the back and an 8MP f/2.4 snapper on the front. The back cameras come with dual-LED flash, capable of taking 2160p@30fps videos. The camera resolution is not extremely high, but it can still produce clear and sharp images.

HTC 10 Evo: Conclusion

Our review doesn’t cover every aspect of this phone. Based on what we’ve seen so far, we praise the phone for its QHD display, its innovative BoomSound Adaptive Audio and the great cameras. However, the phone falls short in performance and battery life. Right now, there are many better smartphones on the market, even ones from HTC itself like the U series. So, skip out on this phone if you can find a nice offer for something else.
