Nokia XL 2 leaked: Android-powered phone that looks like Nokia Lumia 930

As we are expecting the grand come-back of Nokia in late 2016, a new source leaked an interesting piece of news: the allegedly Nokia XL 2 has been spotted online. And it looks like Nokia Lumia 930

Nokia XL 2: similar design to Lumia 930

Before being bought over by Microsoft, Nokia had had many smartphones in the X series. However, several of them had been cancelled by Microsoft before reaching mass production. This time, as the contract is expiring soon, our sources are suggesting that Nokia is trying to bring these concept design back into life. Nokia XL 2 is one of the first the resubmerge. And leak started in China showing off a real-life machine.

Nokia XL 2 leak immediately went viral because of its design. It looks undeniably alike to the well known Nokia Lumia 930 in terms of appearance. The metal frame, thickness and dimension all look pretty familiar to its sibling. We would also like to notice that, there are the typical capacitive home buttons on the front that help distinguish Nokia X series to other smartphones.

Talking about Nokia XL 2 specs, our sources suggest a handy 5-inch display that sports 720p resolution. Other than that, there is no confirmation about RAM and other features. However, with 720p resolution, the phone is said to fit in the lower-range smartphone category. Therefore, we are guessing that Nokia XL 2 will pack 2GB RAM, around 20MP camera Pureview and at least 3,000 mAH battery. And most importantly, the phone will be powered by Android OS – currently the most popular operating system in the market.

But we really hope to see the Pureview on this Android Nokia phone, as this is such a cool feature everyone falls in love with. Nokia C1 price has not been specified yet, but will be no more than USD 300, as Nokia planned to target the budget market the moment they get back.

More interestingly, we also heard that, there seems to be a “compact” version of this mobile. The variant is slightly smaller with 5 inch display, slightly lower end with 2GB RAM and 32GB ROM. However, this is yet to be confirmed by the company.

Nokia C1 VS BlackBerry DTEK50: 3GB RAM Android battle

BlackBerry and Nokia are used to be the popular smartphones in the market. However, the two brands can not compete with Android smartphone brands. They lost a lot of market shares to the other Android competitors. As the result, Nokia had to sell their phone business to Microsoft. BlackBerry, on the other hand, fell far behind in the race comparing to the other rivals. And now, they are coming back. This time, both companies return with Android devices. These smartphones are expected to get back market shares to the brands.

BlackBerry is one step before Finnish company. Last year, they joined the Android market with BlackBerry Priv. This year, they released another Android handset to the market-BlackBerry DTEK50. The phone runs on an octa-core SND 617 processor and Android 6.0. It packs a 3GB RAM paired with a 16GB expandable ROM. Lumia McLaren shows up once again

After nearly 2 years of omission, now Nokia wants to resurrect Microsoft Lumia McLaren, which was the most awaited smartphone….

lumia mclaren

Lumia McLaren: comes to life again

Microsoft Lumia McLaren was the next flagship after Lumia 1020 that Microsoft and Nokia wanted to work on. It was supposed to be the great success with innovative features including 50MP PureView camera. What a pity! This Lumia smartphone never showed its “face”, even though there were so many leaked photos, developers and testers. It has become the legend of Windows Phone till now.

Fortunately, lately Windows Central brought out a near-finished Lumia McLaren unit. Moreover, a Chinese site recently posted many photos of McLaren. Among such photos is a metal unibody with curved edges, which make Nokia smartphone design stunning and dazzling. The Nokia smartphone comes with a 5.5-inch full HD screen with LCD capacity, which deliver premium feeling.

lumia mclaren

Besides that Lumia McLaren specs also include a Snapdragon 800 CPU clocked at 2.3Ghz, 2GB of RAM. People love Lumia phones not because of their spec sheets, they are famous for combination of Nokia’s quality and Microsoft-developed hardware and software solutions. Lumia McLaren was intended to be ‘Lumia 1030’ and was probably have an upgraded 50MP camera. Some of the videos also showed off the phone 3D Touch feature which allows users to interact with the display without actually making contact with it.

Lumia McLaren: the truth is…..

Such camera information was the past. Now, the “today” Lumia McLaren was checked and confirmed to have a 20MP Pureview snapper, but it will never hold a 50MP one like what we hoped. There’s also the intriguing hover touch functionality. As your finger hovers over the screen, such feature will appear with shortcuts and data. The functionality is enabled by various sensors in the display and sides of the McLaren. Lumia McLaren release date and Lumia McLaren price are still kept in secret. Hopefully, we could meet it soon. Stay tuned.

Nokia smartphones 2016: launch date and price

It’s a good news to know that the phone king- Nokia- will come back. However, it’s a little pity when these Nokia phones will come to the Chinese market first. It’s not a big surprise when the brand’s first Android tablet also released in this country. So, you’ll have to wait a bit longer. The company is expected to announce its products at the end of 2016. So, Nokia smartphones 2016 launch date will be in Q1 next year. About the price of these new phones, they’re not as affordable as you expected. The bigger one will come at around $500. However, with all those “flagship” specs like that, it’s all worthy.

Samsung partner up with Nokia….

Apple now seems to fight alone cause its rival – Samsung partner with Nokia, which is more wiser. Samsung has just achieved the agreement with Nokia to expand their patent cross-licensing deal.

Samsung partner

Nokia and Samsung partnership

Samsung and Nokia settled their patent dispute in the beginning of this year. Nokia’s deal to be Samsung partner was last extended in 2013. Nokia and Samsung partnership is now more closer with the expansion of their patent cross-licensing agreement. This big move is based on the five-year agreement established in February. The expanded agreement provides greater access to each company’s patented technologies. Since then, Nokia’s business seems to change much, in a positive way.

Notably, Nokia used to buy Siemens and make it be Nokia Siemens Networks. So did Alcatel-Lucent, a rival equipment maker, which boosted Samsung partner revenue with $16 million. With the acquisition, Nokia also gained access to Alcatel’s massive patent kit. The agreement announced today may create a positive impact to the net sales of Nokia starting from the third quarter of 2016.

Samsung partner

On the other hand, Samsung also some benefits since Nokia intellectual property portfolios are many, from Nokia Technologies, Nokia Networks and Alcatel-Lucent. And Samsung has become one of Nokia huge patent portfolios. The Samsung partner is making sure it continues earning more money by additional patents. Nokia expects its revenue of around $1 billion with such deal. This patent cross-licensing expansion will allow Samsung and Nokia to develop, which is a good news for purchasers.

Samsung partner will need more……

Both Samsung and Nokia still keep silent about the exact list of patents are being covered under this fresh agreement, as well as the new specific listings. Samsung partner and it are more interested in as many patents as they can access to. They just give an overall assessment: “certain additional patent portfolios”. So wait for their lists and their upcoming products.

Nokia P1 press render: first view of the beast

Over the past few months, we have been guessing whether the first Nokia smartphone will be Nokia E1 or Nokia A1. However, seems like recent leaks are suggesting a different model – namely Nokia P1. In case you are wondering, this latest Nokia mobile will be an Android smartphone. According to our source, the device is made and developed by engineers at InFocus/Sharp. It explains why this Nokia P1 press render looks very similar to Sharp Aquos P1.

According to contract with Microsoft, Nokia can not produce a smartphone until Q3 of 2016, which is right now. And the company later sign a contract with Foxconn (who is right now the owner of InFocus/Sharp), who will take part in the manufacture process on the behalf of Nokia. Now that we break down all the information about Nokia’s deals, it all suddenly makes sense about the decision of the company.

Nokia P1 press render

Besides the only Nokia P1 press render image, we have spotted no official specs of the smartphone thus far. However, experts are suggesting that, Android Nokia P1 could be another variant of Sharp Aquos P1 to launch this year. For your interest, Sharp Aquos P1 specs include: 3GB RAM, SND 820 processor, a 5.3 inch FHD display and 32GB of ROM which can be expandable. For camera, the Aquos P1 sports 22.6MP on the back, but we hope Nokia P1 will have “Pureview” on it. There is a 3,000 mAH battery to power the handset as well as IP58 dust-proof and water resistant technology.

Nokia P1 press render: price and availability

Design-wise, Nokia P1 will be available in blue and salmon. Though there is no confirmation about the P1 pricing and availability yet, we predict this Nokia P1 will cost around USD 300, basing on the specs it offers. How does it make you feel, now that we have our first view of such long-awaited beast?

Top Nokia camera smartphones 2016: premium Pureview sensors

 Nokia camera smartphones

1. Nokia 1001 Pureview: 41MP Pureview

Nokia 1001 Pureview, despite being one of the newbies, is definitely among the most favorite. This is a non-Android Nokia smartphone with Windows 8 OS. Nokia 1001 Pureview is special for its small body of 4.3 inch display, yet still able to bear a huge camera of up to 41MP Pureview sensor on the back. There is no official information about the RAM, but Nokia 1001 Pureview will be powered by dual core clocked at 1.6GHz and 16/32GB ROM variants, both expandable to 64GB by microSD card slot.

In terms of design, many say that Nokia 1001 Pureview looks similar to an improved version of Nokia N900. This is because of the curved edges on the rears and elegant button along the left sides of the machine. Nokia 1001 Pureview is a fascinating render design made by Mkrtchyan Edgar, offering both a stunning appearance and a decent combination of specs.

The Finnish company will take care of the design, branding and licensing. Then Foxconn, their chosen partner, will actually conduct the making of the smartphone. Also in this render design, we see a 21MP camera on the back with OIS. However, it doesn’t mention whether the shooter will be equipped with Pureview resolution or not.
