Asus Zenfone 2 is the fastest charging smartphone, Galaxy S6 ranked 2nd
Recently there is some news going around about full charging at only 6 minutes. That seems a very interesting and amazing technology, but we will not talk about that today. Since new technology will be on new smart phones, we focus more on already released devices. In a fast charging test conducted not too long ago, Asus Zenfone 2 and Samsung Galaxy S6 are tied on a 30 minute test. However, Asus Zenfone 2 stays the fastest charging smartphone if charging time at 15 minutes or lower.
Asus Zenfone 2 tops the list of fastest charging smartphones

Percentage of battery charge in 5 minutes

Asus Zenfone 2 battery is 3000mAh. With normal charging, it would take the device around 3 hours to be completely charged. However, with fast charging enabled, Asus Zenfone 2 only takes around 1 hour 45 minutes to be fully charged.

It seems Asus has proved the promised time for fast charging they has made before. With this, Asus Zenfone 2 stays a more favorable smart phone among its rivals.

Samsung Galaxy S7 to sport both Exynos & Snapdragon 820 chipset?
Samsung is famous with its own chipset – the Exynos. Exynos 7420 is the power source of Samsung Galaxy S6 & Galaxy Note 5. However, recently some updates online have shown information of Samsung testing Snapdragon 820. It seems the Korean manufacturer has found some prominent features in this Qualcomm chipset. Rumor has it that Samsung will sport this on their next flagship – the Samsung Galaxy S7.

Samsung will use Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 on Galaxy series again?
Samsung was once the biggest companion of Qualcomm. Their high end phones used to sport Snapdragon chipset, before Exynos took over. However, Snapdragon 820 must be powerful for Samsung to test it on their next flagship.

Snapdragon 820 will not have any heating problems anymore, said Qualcomm. Moreover, according to Korean news, this chipset has passed all the tests to prove that it will overpower and have improved from its predecessor.
However, maybe Samsung Galaxy S7 with Snapdragon 820 will be only available in selected markets. Samsung Galaxy S7 in the Philippines will probably still be the Exynos-powered version.

Although a new Galaxy flagship is expected, we still do not know if these information are really the truth. However, if Samsung is indeed planning to use Snapdragon 820 on Samsung Galaxy S7, then this is good news for both Samsung and Qualcomm. With Galaxy S7, Qualcomm may win reputation back to its chipset.
One other small note, although Samsung still have no official word about the OS they are using for Galaxy S7, it is very likely that the device will come with the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS. Looking for your confirm, Samsung!
Anyways, Samsung Galaxy S7 will not be out until this time next year, so nothing can be concluded yet. In the mean time, we can take a closer look at Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ or Samsung Galaxy Note 5 to know more about Samsung flagships. On the other hand, we can also examine some top tier flagships with Snapdragon 810, to see which version of chipset will be the better Galaxy S7.

Samsung Galaxy Note 5 was announced on August 18 with just a small 3000mAh battery, which is even less than Note 4 battery. However, as many tests being carried out show that Note 5 will do fine with 3000mAh, users seem to be more assured. Yes, it does have less capacity than its predecessor, but it is really stronger. Moreover, Samsung Galaxy Note 5 display is said to be the best among flagships nowadays. These make us want to own one, and want the company to further enhance the phone as well. And that is probably why, the 4100mAh battery version of Note 5 – Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Active – will be out this November.

Samsung smartphone sales continue to top Q2 2015, followed by Apple
Samsung smartphone sales ranked first in Q1 2015, as reported. It seems the big company from Korea is earning a lot with its Galaxy series. That is why, after Q2 2015 and until this time, Samsung still tops the smart phone market. According to the latest report, Samsung and Apple are still the biggest companies.
The sale report in Q2 showing Samsung staying firm at #1
The sales show that Samsung has sold more than 72 million units, earning 21.9% of market share this year. While Apple has surpassed Microsoft to become #2 on the chart, Lenovo sales drop, making it fall to the 6th place.
iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus sales help Apple rise to #2 this quarter
Though Samsung tops on both feature phones and smart phones, their share on both market have decreased quite a bit. Although their flagships contributed much to the sales, it seems Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge do not attract the number of customers Samsung needs.
On the other hand, Chinese brands are making their place in the market. The growth of Chinese brands on this chart is high, especially when their products are competitively cost and high quality. As you can see, Huawei is now the 3rd largest smart phone producer. Xiaomi has grown very strongly to snatch a position on the list also.
Huawei is the strongest Chinese brand at the moment
However, as Samsung outs Galaxy Note 5 and S6 Edge+, will there be any changes in market shares? Meizu, Xiaomi, Huawei are also going to release many flagships this year end. Moreover, as iPhone 6s will be out as well, it seems the market share will be different after this quarter.
Price Pony readers, what are your guess on this year smart phone sales battle? Will Samsung smartphone sales stay on top or will Apple snatch it away? Will Chinese phone makers prevail more?
LG G Edge with Nuclun 2 chip and curved screen to beat Samsung
Samsung and LG. Two Korean manufacturers. Two big names in the market. Two mobile companies to produce curved screens. Last year, Samsung released the first Edge screen smart phones in the world: Samsung Galaxy Note Edge & S6 Edge. LG had released its curved LG G Flex back in 2013 though. However, as the competition between the two company gets more heated, LG made a different move. That is using the Edge trademark on their smart phone names also. Will LG produce an LG G Edge in the future too?
The rumour comes up because of LG attorneys filing trademark names for their new device. The names are listed below
- Super Edge
- Dual Edge
- Upper Edge
- Dual Side Edge
- Side Edge
- Double Edge
- Two Edge
- G Edge
People are making their claims about LG’s seemingly aim on Samsung’s Edge series. Ironically, this is not the first time LG files some trademark regarding another company. Therefore, many have expressed their wonders about LG internal work.
However, if LG is indeed going to make an Edge smart phone, then why not? Recently we heard that LG’s very own NUCLUN 2 processor overpowers Samsung Exynos. Moreover, the chip is said to be not have any heating issue. If the next LG flagship is to have an Edge screen, NUCLUN 2 and OLED display, isn’t that the perfect combination?
NUCLUN 2 overpowers Samsung Exynos on a benchmark test
On the other hand, if we look closely at the list of registered names, things such as Upper Edge and Super Edge sound entirely weird. It seems LG has not decided the design for their new curved screen phone yet. Additionally, Note Edge & S6 Edge from Samsung have far marked the Edge name into users mind. Will LG prevail?
Whether this is just some crazy move or a real plan from LG, it’s good if a new Edge screen handset is to be out. We need more powerful and unique devices in the market. What’s left is LG’s marketing project. Moreover, “LG G Edge” seems nice enough, and can follow LG G Flex well.
Samsung hint smartphones with unlimited battery life
Battery is a very important thing on a smart phone. Since the phone consumes a lot of power, a good battery capacity is needed. Moreover, on removable batteries, a long battery life is preferred. The same thing applies to non-removable ones. Since the non-removable batteries make up the phone’s life as well, it’s best that they have longer life. Battery life has become something really essential to a smart phone’s specs. However, it seems that we have found the solution to battery life with Samsung.
MIT – Massachusetts Institute of Technology – has announced on August 18 that they have found a way to increase battery life to unlimited use. The institute is in collaboration with Samsung, so maybe the new kind of battery will be used on Samsung phones in the future.
Maybe Samsung Galaxy S7 or Note 6 battery will have unlimited life
The solution is that they will replace the liquid sustance in the battery with solid material. This way the liquid substance will not be degenerate, making the battery capacity decrease. As the solid material takes place, there will be no capacity decrease after charges. We can recharge the battery for hundreds or thousands of times without worrying about it dying. And it means the battery has nearly unlimited use.
Moreover, MIT stated that this battery is more resistant to temperature and shock. It even is not flammable since there is no such substance to burn. The new kind of battery also reduces costs, while still being efficient and safe. Since there are many accidents with battery, the new one would give a lot of improvements in life.
We do not know when this unlimited battery will come into real production, but this is a huge step forward in the technology world. Not just smart phones, we can integrate this battery on many electronic devices as well. When that time comes, there will be a new era for us.

Samsung hologram phone will give you 3D viewing in the future
From the earlier days of smart phones, we have experience IPS LCD, OLED, Super AMOLED screens with low quality to HD, FHD, QHD and even 4k display. However, technology does not stop at that. Recently, Samsung has registered their 3D movie screen. With this news, it means that we would have a smart phone that can display holographic images soon. Let’s take a look at the patent for Samsung hologram phone.

Although Samsung has filed this patent for holographic smart phone since Q3 2014, this has just recently been published.
The smart phone will not produce full holographic images though. Only a part of it will display the images. Moreover, as Samsung hologram phone will have the same body design as a normal phone, the 3D viewing will be limited.
Samsung hologram phone design idea
According to the picture, there will be an extra glass panel put on the screen. A light emission device will be placed under. Through the extra glass panel, 3D images will be shown. Therefore, we can experience 3D viewing without the use of any supported devices.
This glass panel will be thicker than any smart phone screens in the current market place. However, Samsung stated that holographic images on this kind of smart phone will be as realistic as ever. You will feel as if you’re looking at a real object.
Samsung does not reveal any technology regarding producing the glass panel. Nevertheless, according to Samsung, the smart phone does not just display 3D movie or contents, but also apps icons or text in a different way than normal.
Although the hologram field created by this smart phone is limited, it is great to know that Samsung is working on it. We need more and more unique devices to strengthen our technology. Moreover, imagination and creativity are what keep our world moving. Therefore, you can look forward to this Samsung hologram phone in the future.
Samsung Galaxy Note 5 battery: 3,000 mAH but last up to 9hours with quick charge
A few days ago, Samsung held a press conference in New York to release their latest generation of flagship: Galaxy Note 5.
As previously announced, the Galaxy Note 5 comes with 5.7 inch 2K display and a beautiful Samsung 16MP rear camera. The device is powered by strong 4GB RAM and a powerful Samsung’s Exynos 7420 chipset that runs on quad-core 2.1GHz processor. The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 runs on Android 5.1 system and 3,000 mAH battery capacity.
Also released at the same time with the Galaxy Note 5 is the Galaxy S6 Edge+ with a curved screen and updated specs from the previous Galaxy S6 Edge
Coming with 5.7 but “only” equipped with 3,000 mAH battery, many doubt that this is not enough to power the Galaxy Note 5. Actually, despite reputation about high-quality camera sensors, Samsung products usually receive so-so feed backs about battery life.
But wait. Take a look at this Galaxy Note 5 battery test result before judging the 3,000 mAH of upcoming Galaxy Note 5 battery
In the figure, you can see 11 devices being shown with real life test results on how long each can last. Topping the list is Motorola Droid Turbo with last 10h and 42 mins, followed by Sony Xperia Z3 with 9 hours and 29 mins of battery life. Surprisingly, contrast to what many think, Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Galaxy Note 5 battery life are as long as 9 hours 29 minutes and 9 hour 11 minutes respectively. Both Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Galaxy Note 5 battery life are ranked excellent. To give you a better sense of comparison, the LG G4, while also packs 3,000 mAH, ranked last on the list with only 6 hours and 6 minutes of battery life.
Now let’s move to the second criterion of Galaxy Note 5 battery: charging time. Battery charging time is also one an important element users care about when using a device, as it can make life much more or less convenient.
From the second figure, we can see that Asus Zenfone 2 is leading with only 58 minutes to fully charge the battery. Ranked as second best, the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 battery only needs 81 minutes to go up to 100% full. This is even less than 1 hour and a half, and is quite idea for any busy users.
After a while being at the center of attention, the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 has currently received negative comments about when announced the lack of microSD card slot. And when this result about Galaxy Note 5 battery life and charging is unveiled, we hope that it can somehow make up for the previous disappointment.
Like most devices, Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and S6 Edge+ have their own pros and cons, which make them different from others and contribute to the reasons why users choose this device instead of others.
Huawei Kirin 950 beats Samsung Exynos 7420 & tops benchmark with 6096 points
Nowadays, many people will stick with Samsung Exynos for the most powerful chipset series. Even Qualcomm Snapdragon has a hard time persuading users to believe they have solved the heating issues on their chipset. However, as mobile manufacturers recently turn to the trend of producing chipsets on their own, more and more prominent chipsets come to the market. Most notably, Huawei Kirin 950, which beats Samsung Galaxy Note 5’s Exynos 7420 on every benchmark tests, would become the next best chipset.
Huawei Kirin 950 is now the most powerful chipset, beating the favorable Exynos 7420.
Huawei Kirin 950 full specs leak on benchmark
Under the Geekbench benchmark test, Huawei Kirin 950 has a quad core Cortex –A72 with 2.4Ghz clockspeed & quad core Cortex-A57. Moreover, Huawei Kirin 950 also supports RAM LPDDR4 & camera up to 42MP. It seems if we have Kirin 950 in our phone, our camera can be a superb photoshooter.

Additionally, the benchmark test also reveals scores for single core and multitasking on this chipset. It scores 1909 points for single core test and 6096 points for multitasking test. This is the proof that Kirin is the top chipset right now. Even Exynos 7420 only scores 1486 points on single and 4970 points on multitasking test.
Samsung Galaxy S6 also sports the powerful Exynos 7420
This time of the year seems to be a mad competition between chipsets, with Xiaomi’s new chipset, Mediatek Helio X30, Qualcomm Snapdragon 820, and even the next Apple chip will be coming to the market. Which chipset will be the best? The answer does not lie in the chipset itself, but the phone it will be equipped in. If the phone has a well-rounded customization with its specs, then the chipset will win. If the phone is just another normal device, the chipset will not save anything. Therefore, until now nothing can really be said yet.
Though this chipset is not released yet, we hope there will be a generation of chipsets that cost low and performs significantly. Moreover, it would be marvelous if more and more great devices such as Asus Zenfone 2 and its rivals to come to the market.
Meanwhile, you can check out which phones sport the (in)famous Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 here.
