Lately, Xiaomi Remi 3A has shown up on GFXBench under the name “Land”. Furthermore, some of its specifications are listed as well, and they are not what others can look down on. Speaking specifically, Xiaomi Redmi 3A specs include a 5.0-inch HD display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 octa-core 1.4GHz processor paired with Adreno 505 GPU, up to 3GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, and Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS out of the box.

Besides, it is said that the handset will also support LTE Cat.7 network and Quick Charge 3.0 tech although the phone’s battery capacity has not been revealed yet. Huawei or Xiaomi?

They’re flagships of their own companies, so no doubt they are equipped with gorgeous designs and high-end hardware. In today’s comparison, we would like to skip the appearance battle and look at their excellent specifications closely. First of all, let’s see what Xiaomi Mi5 Pro specs and Huawei P9 specs have in common. They’ve got very similar Full HD displays (though, in fact the P9’s is a bit bigger than the other’s – 5.2 inches and 5.15 inches, respectively), 4GB RAM, 3,000mAh batteries, dual SIMs, fingerprint scanners, USB Type C ports, and Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS (with different UIs on top – MIUI 7.0 and Emotion UI 4.1).

As for differences, there are some major points you need to note. The P9 is powered by a HiSilicon Kirin 955 (quad-core 2.5GHz + quad-core 1.8GHz) chip, 64GB ROM (expandable up to 128GB), a dual 12MP rear camera and an 8MP front-facing snapper. Meanwhile, the Mi5 Pro packs a Snapdragon 820 (dual-core 2.15GHz + dual-core 1.6GHz) processor, 128GB ROM (non-expandable), a combo of 16MP main plus 4MP selfie shooter, and Quick Charge 3.0 (83% in 30 minutes) which can help the machine get back on track much faster than its rival.

By looking at the above features, we think Huawei P9 has more advantages than the Xiaomi’s product when it comes to chipset, ROM capacity, primary cam, and maybe selfies. Therefore, we would like to vote Huawei P9 the winner. How about you?

At Xiaomi Mi5 launch, the Xiaomi Mi5 Pro price was announced to be 2,699 Yuan or $415. That is actually a pretty cost for such a strong device. Many pieces of news have informed us that Samsung will no longer be the only company to produce edge smartphones in 2016. Many Chinese firms will join the race and we also expect one from Xiaomi. According to some sources, the flagship Mi5 will have a new variant called Xiaomi Mi5s. Design-wise, according to MochaRQ,  an insider, the Mi5s will probably carry a curved display, but not on both sides. It can be more like Samsung Galaxy Note edge.

Besides that, the upcoming handset has also been claimed to sport a slightly different screen size compared to the original Xiaomi Mi5, perhaps 5.5 inches. Additionally, Xiaomi Mi5s specs will include some new features such as 3D Touch, Ultrasonic Fingerprint Sensor and a dual-lens camera.Those specifications will surely bring users better experience, but we also hope to see some more advanced things like Quad HD resolution, 6GB RAM, and big battery.

Maybe that has inspired Xiaomi and then they decided to work with Hasbro to produce Xiaomi Mi Pad transformer, or Mi Pad Decepticon to be more specific. On the other hand, we assume it is a special idea the firm dedicates to their consumers to celebrate its 6th birthday on April 6, 2016.

Some teasers and live pictures have also been posted on the internet, showing a “Transformers Special Edition” toy able to convert from a Xiaomi’s 9.7 tablet to a gold robot warrior. That is claimed to be a toy for now, but hopefully Xiaomi and their partner can come up with a real tablet owning such an amazing capability. What do you think?

1. January: Xiaomi Redmi 3

Xiaomi Redmi 3 was launched and available for sale in January. Design-wise, the handset sports an all-metal body and a textured rear panel like what you can see in the picture, like “the stars in the night sky.”  And there are 4 color options for you to choose: Gold, Dark Gray, Silver, and Classic Gold. Which one do you like most?

As for Xiaomi Redmi 3 specs, it boasts 2GB RAM with 16GB of internal storage (expandable up to 128GB), an octa-core Snapdragon 616 processor, a dual SIM, and MIUI 7.0 based on Android 5.1 Lollipop OS. Xiaomi also equips this budget flagship with a decent pair of cameras: 13MP on the back and 5MP on the front. Though, the most significant thing about the Redmi 3 is its gorgeous 4,100mAh battery for 3 days of using without charging. Cool, rite?!

Xiaomi Mi5 specs: No more questions or doubts

Previously, we always knew that Xiaomi Mi5 would sport the new, powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chip, 4GB of RAM, 32/64GB of internal storage, and a 16MP main camera. But, yes, that was before. Everything can change as time passes by, right?! Now, all of Xiaomi Mi5 specs have appeared on GFXBench and we are also a bit eager to look at it to see if there are any differences!

Accordingly, luckily Xiaomi Mi5 will still be equipped with a Snapdragon 820 paired with Adreno 530 GPU and a big 5.7-inch screen, yet supporting Full HD resolution, not the Quad HD we were always dreaming about. Even 4GB RAM will not be on board but 3GB RAM and there will only one option for the ROM capacity: 64GB. However, Android 6.0 Marshmallow is surely to run the handset, which makes us not so disappointed about the coming Xiaomi flagship.

Well, no words have been made for the cam, so there is still chance for the 16MP shooter. In general, those are excellent features for a smartphone; nonetheless, we have to admit that we were expecting more than them. Though, some sources said that there would be 2 versions of Mi5: Full HD + 3GB RAM and 2K + 4GB RAM. If so, the one on GFXBench is the first ver and the second will come later.

Xiaomi is famous for their cheap but good quality smartphones launched to the market in the recent years. Seems like they are not planning to stop this reputation any time soon. For now, rumors are already talking about a brand new handset named Xiaomi Redmi 3, that costs an unbelievably cheap price: USD 92. This is equivalent to Xiaomi Redmi 3 price in Philippines at PHP 4,500 and Xiaomi Redmi 3 price in India at Rs 6,200. Excited already?

In terms of Xiaomi Redmi 3 specs, we have 2GB RAM with 16GB internal storage, an octa-core processor with Snapdragon 617 chip set. Xiaomi also gives this budget flagship a beautiful pair of camera: 13MP on the back and 5MP on the front. Xiaomi Redmi 3 is also a 4G competent smartphone. What is significant about the device is that, Redmi 3 battery features a huge 4,000 mAH battery. With this capacity, you can go 3 days on normal use without charging.

A bit about Xiaomi Redmi 3 design, seems like we will have a full metal body with 5 inch display and a 8.5mm slim body. We haven’t heard any further about whether the handset will come with micro SD card slot or not, but very hopefully Xiaomi will surprise us this time, like they did earlier.

After releasing the super great Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 with powerful hardware and a very affordable price, Xiaomi is attracting a lot of people. Moreover, they believe the company’s next flagship Xiaomi Mi5 will also follow the same strategy: strong specifications and good prices. This time, maybe we can really see it as some reliable sources have claimed that Xiaomi Mi5 launch is going to occur on 21 January 2016. Just a few days left!

Lately, we have spotted some pictures as well as a video showing a real Xiaomi Mi5 on Youku (which is considered as “Chinese YouTube”). Accordingly, Xiaomi Mi5 design isn’t changed much, still coming with physical buttons whose positions are similar to Xiaomi Mi Note or Mi Note Pro. However, we have to mention its all-alloy unibody and physical home button, which looks pretty awesome in our opinion. Besides, you have 4 choices over the color: white, black, yellow and pink.

Basically, Home button usually carries a fingerprint sensor. Therefore, we are quite sure that Xiaomi will do the same and furthermore, they are likely to equip the Mi5 with ClearForce display tech, “providing customers with new dimensions in user interfaces such as speed scrolling, zoom, gaming, and text or photo editing by applying variable force with a finger or stylus.”
