Updated: Gionee Elife S7 – World’s thinnest phone

It seems that Gionee will launch the word’s thinnest phone at MWC. They said that at a press release today. The thinnest device is now Vivo X5 Max with a thickness of only 4.75mm thanks to a thinnest screen of 1.36 mm. So, it raise a question: if Gionee create a thinner phone than 4.75mm so what do the do with battery and hardware as well

Last year, Gionee held for a long time the title “the world’s thinnest phone” with the Gionee S5.1. It highly looks like they want to make it once again this year.

Just only see more carefully at Chinese smartphone market now, you can find that there is a fierce competition between Gionee, Oppo, Vivo and most recently IVVI (a sub brand of Coolpad) to take the title of “The word’s thinnest phone”. Gionee S5.1 (the fourth), Oppo R5 (the third), Vivo X5 Max (the second) are the specific products of them. And although Vivo now hold this position with 4.75mm Vivo X5 Max, however, 4.7mm phone of IVVI will go on sale soon.

Gionee confirm official name of the “Thinnest phone of the world” is the Gionee Elife S7.MWC is coming and too much surprise are ahead.
In the press release Gionee even mentioned their new phone will have a headphone jack, a direct attack at the 4.85mm Oppo R5.
In contrast to its name, the Elife S7 doesn’t mean “7mm” as their previous “the Elife 5.1” reporting 5.1mm thickness. Therefore, according to Gionee, ‘7’ simply refers to a successor to the S5 range.
No matter what, let wait for upcoming MWC and see some thing ahead.
