For LoL, it is even more clear: when the servers struggled in Riot&#8217;s early days, fans happlily spent for RP to dress up their heroes and expand the rosters. Top players and teams can get through economic crises by streaming and fan support. It is no wonder that teams put so much effort into engaging with their fans by various means, like Reddit AMAs (ask-me-anything sessions), or social media. So, why do League of Legends teams gather so much fans?<\/p>\n<p><strong>First of all<\/strong>, it is because of the success. With LoL becoming an international e-sport, it will have many grand tournaments. There will surely be big audience, and those with success will surely catch more fans. This is not different than other sports, such as football. The more successful you are, the more fans you will have. <strong>The next point<\/strong> is quite interesting, it&#8217;s about personality. almost every team competing will try to portray a personality, and as often, it will draw in more fans who can relate. Of course, every organization has to have at least some level of sustainability to survive. LoL teams are no different. In this case, they have it in the form of personality and goals. As long as they can stick to their renowned personality, set up goals and achieve them, or at least come close to, fans will love it, because teams are more or less what fans want to see themselves as. TSM, for example, set their goals very high initially, to be champions, and they have progressed tremendously, coming closer each tournament. Fans love that sort of perseverence.<\/p>\n<h3>League of Legends teams: They are fans&#8217; darlings<\/h3>\n<p>Fans will always be the life support of competitive games like LoL. The game can gain more fans through the teams playing it. So, game developers need to note this down if they want the game to be successful.
